Welcome Families and Students!
Welcome to Brookhaven Preschool Education Program. To our new students and their families who are joining us
for the first time, I want to extend a big “hello” as we look forward to working with your child for the first time
this year. For those returning PEP students and their parents—Welcome Back! I hope you all had an enjoyable
summer vacation.
Your child’s first day of school will be _________________. The class hours are 9:00 – 11:30 AM, 9-12 PM,
12:25- 3:25 or 12:55-3:25 PM. Our PEP staff will greet car and bus riders at the front entrance of the school
every day. Some of the activities we will do are language circle (where we will sing songs, learn new words and read
stories) and table work (such as puzzles, sorting, and writing). We will also play in sensory and motor activities.
Each week we will go to art, music, and physical education (P.E.). From time to time we will have special activities
such as cooking.
At the start of the school year we ask each family to please send their child to school with the following items:
A backpack (large enough to
hold a folder with papers
and notices)
A spare set of clothing (weather
appropriate outfit, socks and
underwear) Pull Ups with Velcro
tabs, Wipes. Please label everything!
If your child is newly toilet trained,
please send 2-3 full sets of clothing,
as well as several plastic grocery
bags.

Send a lunch and drink in
a lunch box each day.
Or order a school
lunch.
To order lunch, send a check made
to Brookhaven Elementary School.
Be sure to let the teacher know
each day about lunch! Fill out the
application every year to apply for
free / reduced fee lunch.
If your child is not coming to school, please e-mail me or call me before your child’s school day. Also, please call
the bus depot to let the driver know. This is very important!

From time to time, I will host parent workshops, can make home or daycare visits or talk with you by phone/email.
I am also happy to answer your questions during a guided observation of your child at school. Please let me know
how I can be of assistance to you!

Home visits and

Please send any written communication you have for your child’s teacher or myself a marked envelope in your child’s
backpack. We will check backpacks daily.
We will also give you a folder for flyers, art work and other papers. We typically send this folder home on Fridays.
Please keep the papers at home and return the empty folder on Monday.
