2011 Maymester Voyage (Music) The experiences on Semester at Sea just really can’t be replicated. (Music) Voice of Alejandro Franco What I’m trying to do with my business degree is pretty much what Western’s motto is which is to see that international vision that Dr. Ransdell is putting into everyone’s perspective. (Music) Voice of Emily Kinslow You realize that your world doesn’t just revolve around you and things that you impact the whole world altogether. (Music) Voice of Kaitlin Hartley Semester at Sea makes the world seem reachable. (Music) Voice of Amanda English You get to see so many different ways of life. (Music) Voice of Kyle Sunderlin I got to see six or seven countries that I had never been to before. (Music) Voice of Kaitlin Hartley Now I do feel like it is part of me and any problems that countries around the world face is a problem that I face. (Music) Voice of Amanda English Everybody is just this big family of people that are seeing all of the same things. (Music) You have to be willing to meet people and experience people. Really be willing to sit down and have a conversation with people. (Music) You get to learn because you can and you want to. (Music) Voice of Amanda English – You really get a little glimpse of every little thing, every little place that you are visiting. (Music) We walked on the locks, across the lock, into the control house. So I walked halfway across the Panama Canal and we got to see the control room, which was really really neat. You cannot be an engineer and not go to the Panama Canal. (Music) I’ve learned more on this voyage. I have experienced more on this voyage. This has been one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. (Music) Gales Point is a place I’ve been hearing about for years, so it was really a dream to really get to go there. (Music) It was on a tiny peninsula in the middle of a lagoon. (Music) The people were just so friendly and full of life that I think it really inspired all of us students. (Music) Kind of does take a special person to come on Semester at Sea. (Music) This isn’t a cruise. We do have a lot of luxuries and a lot of nice amenities but you just learn every second of every day and you wouldn’t do that on a cruise. You’d be sitting out on the deck getting a sun tan. (Music) I can actually take what I’ve learned at Semester at Sea and apply it. You are travelling on a ship and comparing the countries you’re visiting and the cultures you’re seeing and the languages and the food and the music. (Music) What you take home is priceless. (Music)
