Vardhaman Bharti Trust is an emblem of quality and value education for more than 3
decades C. U. Shah College of Engineering & Technology takes pride in being part of
this elite and noble organization serving for the betterment of the society, and the
nation by imparting EDUCATION.
C. U. Shah College of Engineering & Technology is a self-financed institute established
on 15th September, 1997 coinciding with Engineer’s day. The institute is approved by
All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and Government and affiliated to
Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad. This prestigious institutes right from it’s
very inception has been engaged in imparting quality technical education in seven
different functionalities specialized streams of engineering namely Computer,
Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, Biomedical & Instrumentation,
Mechanical and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. From the year 2012, it has
introduced two new Courses - Automobile Engineering & Instrumentation and Control
Engineering. The institute is also imparting knowledge in the post graduate courses i.
e., M. E. Mechanical Engineering (CAD/CAM), M. E. Electronics & Communications
Engineering, M. E. in Computer Engineering, M. B. A. & M. C. A.
CCET has been playing a key role not only in turning the Surendranagar district as one
of the most prominent districts in the state, economically and educationally as well,
but also has been functioning as a wonderful resource for trained technical and skilled
manpower to the country.
About Youth Festival:
CCET is well known for organizing vivid national & international programs in different
disciplines and now one more feather in the cap is the 2nd Youth Festival of Gujarat
Technological University (Ahmedabad Zone) “XITIJ – 2012” on 28th, 29th & 30th
September 2012. Youth Festival is a festival of youngsters and part of Cultural
activities. GTU celebrates this festival every year in all five different zones. CCET, not
only aims at unique work culture but also promotes the all round development of the
students. Youth Festival provides an opportunity to develop ample creative energies
and to excel in their respective areas of interest. This helps them to develop their soft
skills, cross cultural communication and networking with locals to understand local
culture and lifestyle. This year, C. U. Shah College of Engineering & Technology, was
the host of 2nd Youth Festival of GTU for all the colleges of Ahmedabad Zone.
The youth festival aims to propagate the concept of the national integration, spirit of
communal harmony, brotherhood, courage and adventure amongst the youth by
exhibiting their cultural endowment on a common platform. This youth fest provides a
nation –wide exposure to the youth for the expression and fulfillment of their cultural
talents and aspirations. By participating in programs like such, students would be able
to have the feel of the real world along with the technology and get opportunity to
expose their talents in various cultural events.
About Xitij - 2012:
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) started to organize Youth Festival from 2011.
For us, it was a matter of pride for us that our institute was selected to host the Youth
Fest of Ahmedabad zone. For the first time, we were hosting such a gala function. We
were overjoyed with the enthusiastic response shown by the various colleges by the
overwhelming presence of more than 765 participants of the various reputed colleges.
There were total 23 events in this fest which were the part of broad categories of
Music, Dance, Theatre, Literature and Fine Arts. Two new events were added from this
year - One Act Play and Folk Orchestra.
The Gujarat Technological University is giving a fabulous opportunity and a common
platform to young generation to explore their hidden talents. The students will have
fantastic time of fun, entertainment and sociable environment which will help them to
develop their overall personality.
With the success in its 1st year, there was an overwhelming response this year in the
2nd Youth Festival. Total 26 institutes have participated from various colleges of
Engineering, Pharmacy, MBA & MCA from Ahmedabad Zone with around 761 students.
Brief report of 28th, 29th & 30th September, 2012 is given below with the event
photographs and results.
· Day 1 (28th September, Friday):
On the very first day, the registration started at sharp 08:30. As a host institute,
we welcomed all the team managers & participants heartily at the registration
desk and served them delicious breakfast. At sharp 10:30, the inauguration
ceremony started on the Open air theatre stage. Initially, Our Hon. Vicechancellor, Dr. Akshai Aggarwal had consented to remain present in the
Inauguration Ceremony, but due to some unavoidable circumstance, he could
not attend the inauguration ceremony. The ceremony started with key note
address of Hon. Vice-Chancellor through Video conferencing. In his speech, Sir
told that such festivals are indispensable for the all round development of
today’s youngsters. Also, he congratulated C. U. Shah College of Engineering &
Technology for being the host of 2nd Youth Festival of GTU. The ceremony was
also attended by other renowned Personalities & Leaders Shri Kiritsinh Rana,
Forest & Environment Minister, Gujarat State, as the Chief Guest, Smt.
Varshaben Doshi, MLA, Wadhwan Constituency, Capt. C. S. Sanghvi, Member
Secretary, Cultural Board, GTU, Shri Bhupatbhai Shah, Chairman of VBT, Dr. J. G.
Sanghavi, Er. K. V. Mehta, Secretaries of VBT, and other trust Members of VBT.
Dr. K. H. Wandra, Principal of CCET & Organizing Chairman of Xitij 2012
presented welcome address. After the inauguration Ceremony, all the events
were started at 01:30 p.m. at different five venues.(The detailed schedule is
attached herewith.)
· Day 2 & Day 3( on 29th & 30th September):
The events were going on from early morning to late evening on all these 3 days.
And then, on 30th September, Sunday, the Valedictory function started at 3:30
p.m. The results were declared as below:
1) The Fine Arts category champion trophy was awarded to Government
College, Bhavnagar
2) The Dance Category trophy was awarded to S. S.. Engineering college,
Bhavnagar
3) The Theatre Category was awarded to S. S. Engineering College, Bhavnagar
4) The Literature Category was awarded to C. U. Shah College of Engineering &
Technology, Wadhwan City
5) The Music category was awarded to L. J. Institute of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad

· Concluding Remarks:
Above and all, 2nd Youth Festival of Ahmedabad zone (GTU) , at CCET Campus
was splendid indeed and all the participants and visitors enjoyed very much.
Also, the overwhelmed response from the various reputed colleges which gave
neck to neck competition to winners and runners up which make it grand
success. The arrangement of the host institution was really excellent and despite
of the fact, we were organizing for the first time, was indeed a gala success. We
are really grateful to Gujarat Technological University for having confidence and
faith on us to host the Youth Festival successfully for the first time. With the
efforts of all the members of C. U. Shah Group of Institutions and our
enthusiastic and overzealous Managing trustees Shri Bhupatbhai Shah, Dr.
Jitendrbhai Sanghvi, Er. Kiranbhai Mehta, Shri H. K. Dave and Dr. K. H. Wandra, it
was possible to make this event a grand success.
