GTU Innovation Council:
Council: for inculcating the spirit of innovation within academia and industry.

Interaction secessions were arranged with the new Faculty Members at VGEC, Chandkheda and
LD Engineering College. Honorable VC, GTU. Prof Akshai Aggarwal addressed the faculties and
shared his vision of a unique University roadmap. He also explained the role of GTU Innovation
Council in nurturing practice-orientation and innovation in technical education. On 16th June
the meeting at VGEC was coordinated by Prof Uday Trivedi and Prof Thakkar. Prof Thakkar
shared his inputs and introduced the young faculties to the authorities. Dr. Akshai Aggarwal
shared some exciting experience from his vast experience of teaching and learning which was a
great source of inspiration for the young faculty members. He said that every one at GTU has to
always keep the students as their 1st priority. He envisaged a road map for GTU Innovation
Council involving the newly joined faculty members in various disciplines. It was decided that
Prof. Uday Trivedi will coordinate in forming sectoral teams of faculties considering their area
of specialization and they will be linked to the industries/industry sectors under GTU Innovation
Council. The faculty members were asked to develop a framework in the context of their own
specialization and send it to GTU Innovation Council within a week. Mr. Hiranmay Mahanta
presented activities of GTU Innovation Council. He said that he would coordinate the faculty
teams while being linked to SME clusters and industry chambers.
A similar meeting was held at LDEC coordinated by Prof M.I.Vyas, Coordinator of Udisha Club at
LDEC on 17th June. Prof Vyas welcomed Honorable VC and shared the efforts taken in Vatva
Innovation Sankul. Honorable VC shared his visions on co-creation model of research and
development where 8,000 plus faculty of GTU in Engineering and Diploma will nurture the
creativity of nearly 55,000 final year students who will be passing out during the academic year
2011-12. Prof M.I.Vyas gave vote of thanks at the end of the meeting which was concluded with
an appeal to develop faculty teams of particular sectors to develop linkages with corresponding
sectors of Industries and industry chambers/associations in and outside the Sankul.
