Gujarat State Pharmacy Council , Ahmedabad Sponsored and SHRI B. M. SHAH COLLEGE OF PHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH, MODASA. organized Refresher Course (August 28-29, 2010) Shri B. M. Shah College of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Modasa organized a refresher course for pharmacists on 28-29 August 2010. The course was financially sponsored by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council, Ahmedabad, The course started with registration and refreshment at 9.0 am. Total 66 registered pharmacists including 10 pharmacists working in government hospitals were participated. The inauguration function started with introduction and welcome of guests by Dr. N M Patel, Principal, BMCPER. Guests were felicitated after lightening the lamp. Mr. Dinesh M Patel, Asst. commissioner , FDCA, Baroda was the chief guest and Dr. Anita A Mehta , Prof, Dept. of Pharmacology, LMCP, Ahmedabad was guest of honour of inauguration function. Mr. Navin Modi, Vice President, The M L Gandhi Higher Education society, Modasa delivered presidential address, he recommended to government for effective implementation of rules for recruitment of registered pharmacists. The function ended with vote of thanks by Prof. P M Patel. Mr. Dinesh M Patel, Asst. commissioner, FDCA, Baroda had delivered a lecture on Drug and cosmetic act, he discussed different offences and penalties giving suitable examples. Second lecture was delivered by Dr. Anita A Mehta, Prof, Dept. of Pharmacology, LMCP, Ahmedabad on adverse drug reaction. She explained fundamental of adverse drug reactions. The post lunch session started at 1.30 with a lecture by Dr. M S Patel, Asst. prof, Dept of Pharmaceutics, BMCPER. He nicely discussed the common errors in medication. The fourth lecture of day was delivered by Dr. N M Patel, Principal, BMCPER on different acts. He gave details covering major pharmacy acts. After breakfast the morning session started with a lecture by Mr. L M Prajapati, Asst. prof, BMCPER on adverse drug reaction. He focused on need for adverse drug reactions reporting in India. Second lecture was delivered by Dr. P M Patel, Prof, Dept of Pharm. Analysis on pharmacy profession in India and advance countries. He discussed different opportunities after pharmacy education. In post lunch session Dr. M M Patel principal, Kalol institute of pharmacy, Kalol Ex Vice Chancellor HNGU, Patan delivered a vary informative lecture on Prescription handling. He talked about organization of good drug store. The objective test was conduced at 2.0. pm . After tea the valedictory function was started, Mr. Gilbert C Macwan, Add. Registrar, GSPC, Ahmedabad was chief guest of the function.. Mr. Prahaladbhai L Patel, member, GSPC was guest of honour. Dr. M V Shah, Ex president The M L Gandhi Higher Education society, Modasa presided the function.. Dr. N M Patel, Principal, BMCPER introduced the guests. Guests were facilitated by staff members. Mr. Gilbert C Macwan explained about the need of refresher course. He also informed about new website of GSPC. Mr. Prahaladbhai L Patel talked about the status of pharmacists in India and abroad. Fianally Mr. L M Prajapati concluded the course with vote of thanks. All the participants were provided the printed course material from college and certificate from GSPC.
