Blood Donation Camp & Thalassemia Vigilance Campaign
It is a celebrated fact, that the 1st October is observed as the Blood
Donation Day all over the world. On Friday, October 01, 2010, a
Blood and Eye Donation Camp along with Thalassemia Vigilance
Campaign had been organized at Gardi Vidyapith Campus.
Following the GTU circular (GTU/Social Activities/2010), Gardi
Vidyapith had organized Thalassemia test for all the first year
students of Engineering, MBA, MCA, and Pharmacy. The
Thalassemia test was proved to be a huge success as more than 584
student underwent the test by Indian Red Cross Society.
Along with Thalassemia testing, a Blood Donation Camp was also
organized where more 143 bottles of blood were collected by Field
Marshal Blood Bank, Rajkot.
Gardi Vidyapith has always set the example for others to follow.
This year Gardi Vidyapith has initiated the noble endeavor of Eye
Donation as an additional duty. With the first effort itself, there
were 100 Eye Donation undertakings (21 faculties + 82 students)
have been collected by ‘Rotary Club of Rajkot Eye Bank’. It’s
history in itself.
