NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK
Anand Pharmacy College is having Indian Pharmaceutical
Association-Anand branch of Gujarat state celebrated National
Pharmacy week from 4th Feb to 11th Feb-2013 at APC campus.
Various competitions and health check up camp was conducted
based on the theme –“PHARMACIST IN PUBLIC HEALTH”. All
the students actively participated and the whole National
Pharmacy Week was coordinated

solving them on paper, one such example is the Health Check Up

Various activities were arranged by M.pharm students of
APC.
Around
57
patients were examined
for their blood group,
Blood
Pressure
monitoring and Normal
Body Mass Index, those
who
some
found
to
have
problem
were
advised some exercises and diet modifications and those
who were normal were counselled to maintain their health by
Dr. Chimanbhai Patel- Physician from Red Cross society and
Registered Pharmacist Asha Patel. Some information related
to self medication and rational use of drug was also
explained by the students from post graduation in Pharmacy
of APC. Avoiding Medicine is not an easy advice to be given
by Pharmacist but prevention is better than cure, hence
patients were advised mostly focused on diet modifications
and
physical
exercises
rather
than
taking
medicine!

Visit to Lambhvel was not only
helpful for the village people as
they learnt about rational use of
medicines but also for the students as they had real life experience of interacting with patients explaining actual role of
pharmacist in public health rather than conducting research and development.
2) COMPETITIONS: There were 5 competitions judged by Dr. Kirti
Patel, Dr. Kalpana Patel, Ms. Sarika Johri and Dr. Tapan Shah.
ARTICLE WRITING COMPETITION-A
real test of English, Grammar and
Creative thinking, a very tough
combination to judge on! Our topic
was Pharmacist in public health. 18
no. of students had wits to participate but only three had to be selected, those who could strike the right Cord had to be the best of lot.

RANGOLI COMPETITIONA war of thoughts willing to be expressed in form of colours, hence
needed a delicate yet confident
pair of hand to give full justice to
the thoughts .
12 no. of students fought the
war of colours and some of
them prepared their rangoli with
the help of waste material. They
showed how pharmacist aware
public about various diseases,
rational use of drugs, products
available in market for smoking
cessation, family planning, hospital pharmacy etc

LEAFLET DESIGN COMPETITIONA piece of paper in a leaf let pattern is capable enough to sell properties worth millions, but this time around we experimented the power of
leaflet into a social cause to generate awareness among the society
about the role of Pharmacist in Public Health by distributing best designed leaflet to the nearby villages,
medical
stores
and
Community
Health Centre of the Anand.
