CSIR & GUJCOST SPONSORED NATIONAL CONFERENCE REPORT
A Two Day Conference on “Role of Pharma Clinic in Health Care Profession of
Indian Rural Area” sponsored by CSIR, New Delhi & GUJCOST, Ahmedabad was
organized by Charutar Vidya Mandal’s A. R. College of Pharmacy & G. H. Patel
Institute of Pharmacy, Vallabh Vidyanagar. This Conference was organized by Dr.
Naitik D Trivedi as Convener under the guidance of Dr. A. K. Saluja, Principal of
host institute.
On 1st March 2013, the
inaugural function of
the conference began
as per Indian tradition
and culture with the
lighting of the lamp by
the Chief Guest, Dr.
S.P.Adeshra, Formmer
Commissioner, FDCA,
Gujarat State and
Jyotin D. Patel Sir,
Hon. Joint Secretary,
Charutar
Vidya
Mandal and President
of the function with simultaneous recitation of some shlokas in praise of Almighty by Bhumica Desai..
At the outset of
Inaugural function, Dr.

and
welcomed
the
dignitaries on the dias.

Dr. Naitik D. Trivedi, gave a briefly introduced about the conference. A Souvenier / Abstract book
was released by all dignitaries on Dias.
In his inaugural address, Dr. S. P. Adeshara gave some clues and legal aspects in his key note address
and stressed upon redefining role of pharmacist and urged to boldly accept these challenges ahead for
strengthening their own status in transparent manner.... He congratulated to the organizers of the host
institute for providing such platform and opportunity & exploring further new level of thinking and
understanding related to theme of the conference, as one of the first institute amongst 85 pharmacy
institutes affiliated to Gujarat Technological University .
Dr. J. D. Patel in his presidential remarks, blessed the participants and congratulated the organizers of
the conference for putting in sincere efforts to increase awareness of responsibilities of pharmacist as
an integral part of health care system, specifically in rural area of the country, where specialist doctors
may not be accessible. The inaugural function concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr.
N.P.Chotai.
The Scientific session comprised of a series of three plenary lecturers delivered by Eminent Speakers
on various aspects of the theme of the conference
The First Scientific
session began with a
highly
informative
lecture on the topic –
“Pharma Clinic _ India
Villages” delivered in
interesting manner by
Dr. Nehal J Shah,
Principal,
IICPRC,
Dharmaj. This session
was chaired by Dr.
K.K.Bhatt Principal ,
IICP, New V.V.Nagar
After obtaining general
information
about
various aspects
on
Pharma Clinic in Rural area, the audience received exhaustive information about “Role of Pharmacist
in health care profession in India”. The information pertaining to job opportunity in various Pharma
Sector was provided in a very lucid manner by Dr. Parloop Bhatt, Associate Professor, L.M.College
of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad & the session was chaired by Dr. Tejal R. Gandhi, Principal, Anand
Pharmacy College, Anand.. The morning scientific session concluded with the Lunch Break.
Post lunch seesion began with one of the aim of conference to explore research in pharmacy. Keeping
this in mind, Dr. A Sathish Assistant Professor, Pharmacy Pracice from host institute delivered a very
interesting lecture on “Importance of Research in Pharmacy” .. He explored use of soft ware designed
by him for drug information on various aspects and useful to Clinician . .This session was Chaired by
Dr. Indermeet Anand, Professor, Sarvjanik College of Pharmacy, Mehsana .
The post tea session of
poster
presentation
competitions dealt with
aim
of
inoculating
research culture among
young pharma scholars.
35 posters from various
pharmacy colleges from
Gujarat , Punjab, Madhya
Pradesh, Chattishgargh,
Maharastra etc. were
presented .
Posters were adjudged by
Eminent Academicians
from pharmacy field. We

The
judges
appreciated the posters &
stressed the importance
of many more such
creative activities to
develop skill in young
participants and provide
them a platform to
showcase their thought. All posters were impressive which made it a tough task for judges to select
winners..
Next morning on 2nd March, Dr, Barna Ganguli, Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, P. S. Medical
College , Karamsad spoke on Condition of Indian Villages in relation to Health Care services . It
was chaired by Dr. N. N. Shah, Associate Professor, A. R. College of Pharmacy.
Institute also arranged one visit to Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre for Advanced Studies
(SICART) managed by CVM . All participants visited there. and appreciated suggesting to arrange
scientific work shop related
to sophisticated equipment
to enhance competency on
practical aspects.
Post
lunch lecture was
delivered by

Deshpande,
Professor,
K.B.Institute
of
Pharmaceutical
Science,
Gandhinagar. He spoke on
Scope of Pharmacist role in
Rural Area. in lucid manner.
This lecture was chaired
by
Dr. R.H.Parikh,
Principal, Raman bhai Patel
College of Pharmacy ,
Changa. The deliberations of experts were knowledgeable and discussion were very interactive, thus
enriching the professional aptitude of participants.

The Conference concluded with inspiring valedictory address by Dr. B. G. Patel, Provost, Charusat
University, Changa , Chief Guest and motivating remarks by Dr. V. S. Patel, Hon. Director,
SICART and former Vice Chancellor, Sardar Patel University , President of valedictory function. A
detail report of the conference was presented by Dr. Naitik D Trivedi. The winners of the poster
session .were declared by Dr. Punam D Sachdeva . Mr Kishan Kotak , Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma
University was adjudged the first winner while the second position was won by Mr. Shashank Patel
,A.R.College of Pharmacy and third position was begged by Ms Sweta Singh , Anand Pharmacy.
College, Anand. They were awarded a cash prize & certificates by the Chief Guest.. A certificate of
participation was also awarded to all participants to encourage them. More than 160 participants had
attended this conference. Participants appreciated conference in their views. Dr. R.S.Mehta, Associate
Professor, A.R.College of Pharmacy extended heartfelt gratitude to CSIR, GUJCOST, CVM, members
of various committees, all resource persons, chair persons, judges and participants for their support in
making this conference a grand success The anchoring of entire programme was effectively and
smoothly conducted by the students of M. Pharm.
