ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Under the visionary leadership of Honb. Dr. Akshai K. Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of GTU,
GTU has organized 1 st workshop on “Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” on 3rd & 4th September
2011 at AMA, Ahmedabad, which was achieved a grand success. Thereafter GTU has organized
20 faculty workshops and 10 student workshops on various themes viz. “Patenting in
Engineering”, “Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” and “Patent Search Methodology” at different
zone of GTU during September 2011 to till August 2013. In this process nearly 2534 faculty
members and 3000 students have been trained and aware about the basics of IPR and Patent in
particular. Due to these efforts, within 2 years time period more than 182 Patents have been
filed by GTU affiliated college’s students and faculty of Engineering and Pharmacy discipline.
The credit goes to the students, faculty and all the stake holder of research and innovation, who
have actively engaged in the promotion of IPR.
Now this year again, as many M. Pharma and PhD students are going to start their dissertation
work, GTU has planned to sensitize them by organizing Two days workshop on “Patent in
Pharmaceuticals” at Ahmedabad on 14th & 15th September 2013 (Saturday & Sunday).
OBJECTIVES
To highlight recent trends and advances in the field of Patenting in pharmaceuticals
To give hands-on-training of patent searching and patent filing procedures.
To familiarize the participants with the concepts of patent and patenting in India, U.S.
and U.K.
To provide an overview of how to select Research topic so that it can be Patentable and
later on generate Revenue.

Techno-legal Experts of IPR from Industry and Academia from Pharmacy sector will be invited
for the said workshop.
PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY
Pharmacy students (PG/ PhD from any branch) and Faculty members from GTU
affiliated Pharmacy colleges can register for this workshop.
(Seats are limited for 150 participants only on first come first serve basis)
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Participating faculties and students have to make necessary arrangement for their travel and
accommodation and TA/DA will not be provided.
REGISTRATION FEE
Registration is Free for Faculties & students working/ studying in institutes affiliated with
GTU.
