Open Source Technologies Club (OSTC)
OM Engineering College has set up a milestone and established Open Source Technologies Club
(OSTC) for providing as well as utilizing benefits of latest free open source technologies under
guideline of Gujarat Technological University. OM Engineering College, Junagadh, Gujarat has
organized an interactive awareness Workshop on “Free and Open Source Software” for utilizing
the “LATEX”. The workshop was conducted with the help of IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial Team.
More than 50 faculty members participated in this workshop enthusiastically.
Some key points were discussed in the awareness event on “Free and Open Source Software”

 Prof. Kaushik H. Raviya, Co-ordinator of OSTC Club, OM Engineering College explain
objectives of OSTC club and he added that “if free and open source software is available for each
field than why should we use licensed and paid software”.
 Dr. H.M. Nimbark, Principal of OM Engineering College explains what is actual meaning of
open source and scope of open source in software development industry.

 Faculty members who attended the Awareness Event had participated in
“LATEX” work shop. Our OSTC club members have explained flow and methodology
of workshop.
 Spoken tutorial team member had explained importance of LATEX in typesetting and
taken feedbacks from participants after completion of workshop.
