Call For Articles/Papers
GTU PG Research Centres, Invites articles/papers from students/research
scholars/professors for the Special Issue of Anantyam Vo. II.
G
TU is publishing a special Issue of Anantyam in the context of
the Statue of Unity being put up on an island called Sadhu Bet in
Narmada directly facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
The special
issue will have papers/articles on the following themes: (Papers on other
aspects of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life will also be considered)

Unifying the Country by merging 562 small and big princely states
of India.
The papers may be on the themes of the scenario that
could have developed in the country, had it not been unified.

Economic scenario in case Sardar Patel’s ideas on the development
of the country were accepted right at the time of independence.
In
this connection J.R.D. Tata’s reference, in his autobiography, to his
Page 1 of 3
interactions with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai
Patel after independence, may be valuable. J.R.D. Tata was a
nationalist and had contributed largely to the preparation of the
Bombay Plan of December 1944 for the development of India. He
has stated that, even though he had good social rapport with Pandit
Nehru, it became difficult to discuss openly and dispassionately the
issues of national development with him. On the other hand, the
discussions with Sardar Patel were always rejuvenating. In case the
first government of free India had worked jointly with the leaders of
the industry and in case an environment of distrust had not been
established
between
the
government
and
the
nationalist
businessmen, India might have developed much faster and the
issues of black money might not have assumed the gargantuan size
that these have reached today.

Good Governance:
During the brief period that Sardar Patel remained as the First
Home Minister of India, he showed his sterling qualities as a great
Administrator.
Papers on what could have been achieved in
bringing good governance to India, if he had remained alive for a
decade after independence, will be welcome.
Papers/Articles related to the above mentioned issues will be considered
for publication in the upcoming Anantyam, Vol. II.
