Two Days Four Sessions Workshop on
“Patent Search, Drafting & Filing”
For Engineering& Pharmacy Faculties/Students of GTU
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble. Dr. Akshai K. Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor, GTU has
successfully organized more than 52workshopson various themes viz. “Patenting in Engineering”,
“Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” and “Patent Search Methodology”, “Basics of IPR”, “Patent Search,
Drafting and Filing workshops”, “Patent Search & Analysis Report Generation (PSAR) workshops”, etc.
at GTU as well as at different zones of GTU since September 2011. In this process nearly 7500 faculty
members and/or students have been trained and made aware about the basics of IPR and Patent in
particular. Due to these efforts, within 3years307 Patents have been filed by GTU affiliated college
students and faculty of Engineering and Pharmacy discipline. This number is higher than any other
institution of our country for the same period. The credit goes to the students, faculty members and all the
stakeholders of research and innovation, who have actively engaged in the promotion of IPR.
Now,this year also many BE, ME and M. Pharma students completed their research projects on various
topics, out of them some research problem and their solutions are unique, which might fulfill the criteria
of Patentability. To assist the students to decide whether their projects are patentable or not and if
patentable then how to draft and file the Provisional Patent, GTU has started series of Two days‟
workshops
on
“Patent
Search,
Drafting
and
Filing”
called
as
“Patent
Clinic”at
Ahmedabad&Gandhinagar. Till date 12 Patent Clinics have been organized successfully. The next,
summer patent Clinic program is scheduled in the month of June „2015.

Techno-legal Experts from Industry and Academia from Engineering&Pharmacy sector will be
invited.
PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY
 Engineering & Pharmacy Faculty members including students (of UG /PG/ PhD )from
GTU affiliated Engineering & Pharmacy colleges.
(Seats are limited to 100 participants only on first come first serve basis)
 As this program is of advance level, it is highly recommended that only those faculty
members OR students, who possess really novel invention, which looks to bepatentable
invention should attend this workshop.
 It is advisable to carry your laptop, while participating in this workshop.
 Also, it is advisable to carry out prior patent search (before participating) related to your
innovation, for checking its novelty value.
 No physical project model is required to be carried while coming for this workshop. Just
carry all your data and documents.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Participating faculties/students have to make their own necessary arrangement for travel and
accommodation and no TA/DA will be provided.
