The intended reform process of institutional governance focuses on more accountability towards stakeholders, flexibility and responsiveness to market needs and a capacity for developing strategic goals that are attuned to the people that institutions are serving. The World Bank and MHRD, through its TEQIP national Project Implementation Unit (NPIU) have undertaken a major reform initiative in governance to unleash the potential of Indian Engineering Educational Institutes. Under this initiative they have come up with ‘Good Practice Guide for Governing Bodies’, which comprehensively brings about the best practices, experience and recommendations for good Governance developed both in India and elsewhere. B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, Hubballi, being a TEQIP-II institution, undertook governance reform process in the last three years. The college is considered as one of the two pilot colleges in India for implementing Good Governance practices as per the ‘Good Practice Guide for Governing Bodies’. I will be sharing our experience in adapting these practices and the challenges associated with them in the Indian context. Presenter: Dr. Ashok S Shettar Principal B. V. B. College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli
