Session of Legal Saturday on “Legal support for START – UPs”

GTU Innovation Council (GIC) is working actively for promoting the IPR literacy among all of its students and Faculty
Members. Since September 3, 2011, GTU has successfully organized more than 59 workshops on various themes viz.
“Patenting in Engineering”, “Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” and “Patent Search Methodology” at different zone of GTU
since. In this process nearly 4650 Faculty Members and 3000 students have become aware about the basics of IPR and
Patenting. Another milestone of GTU”s IPR Cell was the implementation of the PSAR (Patent Search and Analysis
Report) and PDE (Patent Drafting Exercise) by all the Final Year Engineering students as a part of their project work. Till
May 2015, GTU has organized twelve sessions of Patent Clinic programme, through which support to innovators is given
for filing the preliminary patent application on their ideas. For the capacity building of Faculty Members, students and
others, GTU has launched a Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights.
Developing an idea into a business plan is more than just jotting a dream on a paper. Our recent initiative of Legal
Saturday kicked off well with the start up community and provides legal assistance to new start-ups and will able to
resolve their queries.
This programme will be mentored by Manasvi Thapar, Advocate, Candour Legal, Ahmedabad..
Objective
Legal lessons for startups / students can equip them with the following knowledge:

Complete understanding of Starting a business, what business type shall be best suited for the founders,
differences between various types, etc

Understanding on how can we protect our IP. Proper understating of Patent Protection, Trade Marks,
Copyrights, GI, etc.

Necessary documents to be needed in the process of start ups.

Any specific subject pertaining to law and corporate compliance.
