General Rules for Bachelor of Planning
Plan 1: Appearing in Exam
A candidate will be allowed to appear at the B. Plan examinations of semesters - I to VIII after he/she
has satisfactorily kept term* for the concerned semester.
*Meaning of keeping the term satisfactorily
A student shall be deemed to have satisfactorily kept terms for any semester provided he has:
1- Attended at least 75% of the total lectures / Labs during the semester and
2- Completed Lab assignments and other term work satisfactorily.
Plan 2: External Exam and term work
In every subject, the External Examination and Internal term work assessment shall be considered as
separate Heads for passing.
Plan 3: Minimum of passing
Minimum passing percentage shall be 50 % for term work and 40 % for External Examination
(including theory and viva).
Plan 4: Backlog
Failure in passing head i.e. either in an internal or external component of the subject shall be
considered as a backlog in the respective subject.
At the end of each semester a student shall be allowed to reappear in cumulative four external
examinations for promotion to the next semester.
Plan 5: Same category of subjects
A student shall successfully clear the examinations for any two consecutive terms in the same
category of subjects before being promoted to the next semester.
Plan 6: Rules for detention
A student will be considered as detained
a) If he/she has more than 4 backlogs (excluding previous Semester) and/or
b) If student fails in the core subject / Planning and Design Lab and/or
c) If a student is detained or is not granted terms in a particular semester for reason of insufficient
attendance or non-submission of term work
Plan 7: Passed Student
No candidate will be allowed to reappear in any semester examinations in which he/she has once
appeared and passed.

Plan 8: Completion of First stage
The first stage of the course ends at the end of third year. Hence all the subjects should be successfully
completed at the end of VI (Six) semester in order to qualify for the next stage i.e. Practical Training
and Thesis/Dissertation.
Plan 9: Practical Training
The student can proceed for the Office Training only after successful completion of first stage of
course. i.e. Third year.
The professional training shall be supervised and evaluated by the institute.
Plan 10: Evaluation of Dissertation
The semester Jury/VIVA evaluation of Dissertation shall be arranged every six months i.e. Jun / July
and Nov / Dec or as suitable to the University.
Plan 11: Validity of Enrolment
Validity of enrolment for any student will remain for eight years from the date of joining the course.
Plan 12: Award of Degree
A candidate will be awarded the Degree in Planning based on satisfactory performance of the external
examination conducted by GTU in respective semesters and successful completion of Practical
training including submission of practical Training Report / Viva and Dissertation.
Plan 13: Award of Degree / Rank
For the purpose of awarding the final rank or degree, CPI/CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average)
of all semesters, excluding professional training shall be considered.
Plan 14:
A candidate will be declared to have passed the final year examination leading to the award of Degree
in Planning
CPI/CGPA Equivalent class shall be as follows:
Below 5.5:
Pass Class
5.5 & above:
Second Class
6.5 & above:
First Class
7.1 & above:
First Class with Distinction
Plan 15: Jury Members
One External jury member, one internal jury member and one Guide if applicable per batch shall be
appointed by the GTU based on the panel recommended by the institute
