GTU REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO FOREIGN STUDENTS
ACADEMIC YEAR 2013 -14
In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section xxvii of section 7 and
to fulfil the objectives prescribed in sub-section vi of section 5 of Gujarat
Technological University Act, the Gujarat Technological University hereby
makes the following Regulations for admission of Foreign Students, to its
various programmes, with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)
fellowship (Government of India).
1. This regulations have been passed for admission to Diploma of
Engineering (Full Time 3 Years Program), Bachelor of Engineering (Full
Time 4 Years Program), Bachelor of Pharmacy (Full Time 4 Years
Program), Bachelor of Architect (Full Time 4 Years Program), Master of
Engineering (Full Time 2 Years Program), Master of Pharmacy (Full Time 2
Years Program), Master of Computer Application (Full Time 3 Years
Program) and Master of Business Administration (full time 2 years
program) and other programs.
2. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External
Affairs, Government of India shall provide the merit list of eligible foreign
students with ICCR Fellowship (Government of India) for admitting the
Foreign Students to the above mentioned Courses.
3. Gujarat Technological University will identify its affiliated institutions,
which are having minimal (less than 10%) deficiencies in Faculty
Strength, Library and other Infrastructure Facility, and seek their
willingness to accommodate the foreign students under the scheme.
4. The Foreign Students allotted by ICCR will be admitted first at University
level and then the University will transfer them to its department of
studies and / or identified and selected institutes on the basis of
prescribed criteria and merit-cum-preferential basis of the Foreign
Students.
5. A maximum 10% seats over and above the sanctioned intake will be made
available to the identified institutes to offer respective programmes to the
allocated students.
6. The University will pay to the respective institutes the fees of the foreign
students allotted to them as per the fees approved by Fee Regulatory
Committee for the year 2013-14 with 10% additional amount. Institute
shall not collect any fees from these students on any head.
7. In case of the foreign Students / scholars pursuing any science courses,
the expenditure on chemical, instruments and other related incidental
charges will be borne by the students himself / herself.
8. The Institute, that will admit the students, is required to make necessary
arrangements for staying and boarding in their hostel made available
separately for Boys and Girls Students. If the hostel facility is not
available with the institute, the allocated students should get the rental
accommodation at nearby places to be arranged by particular institutes
only.
9. If hostel facilities are provided by the institute, the charges should be at
par with those for Indian students and the facility should be of national /
international level.

The institutes, identified and allotted with Foreign Students, are
required to appoint one faculty member as local guardian / mentor for the
allocated foreign students to them.
11. As per the ICCR norms and guidelines, apart from Surat and Rajkot,
admissions may be considered only in distinguished colleges/institutes
located at about 100-150 kms from ICCR/GTU office, Ahmedabad,
Gujarat.
12. ICCR will certify the legal status of the student to stay and study in
India. ICCR shall be responsible for the correctness of the data about the
candidate, on the basis of which GTU determines academic eligibility of
the allocated students for the program, to which the candidate is being
admitted.

The students admitted under this category shall have to follow the
code of conduct and discipline of the institution to which they are
allocated. They have to submit affidavit (as per annexure – I) in this
regard to the University as well as the institution.

The students once allocated to any institute will be given an option to
change the institute, once throughout the duration of the course, within a
period of one month from his / her date of joining the first institute. The
Foreign Students will also be permitted to transfer the institute as per the
Institute Transfer Norms of GTU.
15.
Gujarat Technological University will award degree to the foreign
students subject to the successful completion of respective course.
In implementation of the provisions of these regulations, if any difficulty or
question arises as to the interpretation of any provision, the decision of the
Vice Chancellor shall be final.
