ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Under the visionary leadership of Honb. Dr. Akshai K. Aggarwal, Vice chancellor, GTU has
successfully organized more than 53workshopson various themes viz. “Patenting in Engineering”,
“Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” and “Patent Search Methodology”, “Basics of IPR”, “Patent Search,
Drafting and Filing workshops”, “Patent Search & Analysis Report Generation (PSAR) workshops”, etc.
at GTU as well as different zone of GTU since September 2011 to till February 2015. In this process
nearly 7500 faculty members and/or students have been trained and aware about the basics of IPR and
Patent in particular. Due to these efforts, within 3years’ time period 301 Patents have been filed by GTU
affiliated college students and faculty of Engineering and Pharmacy discipline. This number is higher
than any IIT of our country for the same period. The credit goes to the students, faculty and all the stake
holder of research and innovation, who have actively engaged in the promotion of IPR.
Now this year also many BE, ME and M. Pharma students completed their research projects on various
topics, out of them some research problem and their solutions are quite unique, which might fulfill the
criteria of Patentability. To assist the students to decide whether their projects are patentable or not and if
patentable then how to draft and file the Provisional Patent, GTU has started series of Two days’
workshop on “Patent Search, Drafting and Filing” called as “Patent Clinic”at Ahmedabad&
Gandhinagar. First such kind of program was successfully organized during 27th& 28th July 2013, 2nd
program during 16th& 17th August 2013, 3rd Patent clinic on 17th& 18thDecember 2013, 4th Patent clinic on
30th&31st October 2013, 5th Patent clinic on 26th&27st December 2013 and 6th Patent clinic on 31st Jan &
01st Feb 2014, 7th Patent Clinic on 12thto 14thJune 2014 and 8th Patent Clinic on 26th to 28thJune 2014at
Ahmedabad and 9th Patent Clinic on 18th to 19th September 2014 at Ahmedabad and 10th Patent Clinic on
05th to 06thDecember 2014 at Ahmedabad
and 11th Patent Clinic
on 6th& 7th February 2015at
Ahmedabad. Next 12thPatent Clinic programs isscheduled on3rd and 4th April 2015(Friday& Saturday)
at GTU, Chandkheda campus, Ahmedabad.

Techno-legal Experts from Industry and Academia from Engineering sector&Pharmacy sector
will be invited.
PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY
 Engineering & Pharmacy Faculty members including students (of UG /PG/ PhD from any
discipline) from GTU affiliated Engineering & Pharmacy colleges.
(Seats are limited for100 participants only on first come first serve basis)
 As this program is of advance level, it is highly recommended that only those faculty OR
students, who possess really novel invention, which looks like patentable invention
should attend this workshop.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Participating faculties/students have to make necessary arrangement for their travel and
accommodation and TA/DA will not be provided.
