ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Under the visionary leadership of Honb. Dr. Akshai K. Aggarwal, Vice chancellor, GTU has
successfully organized more than 25 faculty workshops and 10 student workshopson various
themes viz. “Patenting in Engineering”, “Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” and “Patent Search
Methodology” at different zone of GTU since September 2011 to till February 2014. In this
process nearly 3000 faculty me mbers and 3000 students have been trained and make aware
about the basics of IPR and Patent in particular. Due to these efforts, within this time period 220
Patents have been filed by GTU affiliated college students and faculty of Engineering and
Pharmacy discipline. This number is higher than any IIT of our country for the same period. The
credit goes to the students, faculty and all the stake holder of research and innovation, who have
actively engaged in the promotion of IPR.
GTU has introduced “Patent Search & Analysis Report (PSAR)” as a part of syllabus for all
BE (Sem VII) students in September 2013. As a result of this, now students learnt that whether
their IDP/UDP projects are novel/ patentable or not. Now in the current BE (Sem VIII) semester,
student have to undertake “Patent Drafting Exercise (PDE)” as a part of their project work.
Therefore this workshop is designed, where in all those faculty members will be trained about
this new initiative, who have undergone training of PSAR in the last semester. So that they can
train the students of their respective colleges. such workshopswere successfully completed on
15.02.2014 and 08.03.2014, Saturday at GTU Chandkheda campus, where in more than
180faculties from various institutes have been trained. All the participated faculties have
accepted and appreciated this new initiative of GTU Innovation Council. In line to this GTU
further plans a second FDP on PDE for the faculties who could not participated during first
session. This time GTU asks all colleges to send at least one faculty from each department to get
participate in this FDP.

To provide an overview of online portal to be created for submitting PDE report
Case study based discussion about how to draft Provisional Patent Application
RESOURCE PERSONS
Techno- legal Experts from Industry and Academia will be invited.
PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY



Engineering Faculty members from GTU affiliated Engineering colleges.
Preference will be given to those faculty members, who have undergone PSAR training
Seats are limited for100 participants only on first come first serve basis
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Participating faculty have to make necessary arrangement for their travel and accommodation
and TA/DA will not be provided.
REGISTRATION FEE
Registration is Free for Facultiesmembers from GTU affiliated Engineering colleges.
