Sub: Questionnaire for Diploma curriculum development with industry survey. Dear Academicians Gujarat Technological University is re-designing the curricula of all the diploma engineering
programmes to match with the need of the industries. For this purpose, GTU has collaborated with
National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research Bhopal (NITTTR Bhopal) who is
having the expertise in developing the curricula for technical educational programmes at national
level.
It has been decided by GTU and NITTTR Bhopal to design the curricula on the competency-based
approach so that GTU pass outs students are not only well – versed with the theoretical aspects but
also able to perform well in the industry when they join the industry. Once this curriculum is
developed, it would guide the teachers and students how to achieve the identified competencies.
For the project, this questionnaire is jointly developed by GTU and NITTTR, which is designed to
identify the entry-level competencies expected out of diploma holders from the industries. This
Questionnaire seeks the outcomes that are required to perform the jobs independently in an industry
in order to avoid the present long-term training program conducted for the newly recruited fresh
engineering diploma holders.
Since you all have been working with academic institutions and having a good rapport with
industries through student training and placement, visit, expert lecture series, exhibits etc, I would
request you to contact different industries at individual level/department level or by forming
strategic group within your institute. The response collected by you will be of great use to arrive at
a demand driven module, fulfilling industry needs and to bridge the gap between academic
institutions and industries.
