GTU has established its fourteen Post-graduate Research Centres in the field of Engineering,
Management and Pharmacy. Every Centre is studying the technology, the management systems,
the environment, the systems for evaluating the success and the policy issues for every facet of its
area of interest. Each centre develops its own research and establishes relationships with
similar Centres in other Universities all over the world. Every Centre invites the experts to come
and address its researchers and work with them.
Towards setting up the GTU’s Centre for the Technology Education, Public Policy and Universities
of the 21st century (GTU-CeTEPU-21) the centre has initiated research project called "Designing the
Structure of Technology Universities (DSTU) of the 21st century.
About the DSTU Seminar
For this seminar we have we have invited and also get acceptance from around 30 Vice
Chancellors and Directors from all over the country to participate and share their views in the
seminar on “Designing the Structures of Technology Universities (DSTU).
GTU has conducted extensive research on the theme of “Designing the Structures of Technology
Universities (DSTU) in India” since 27th April 2011. This research project is designed to scientifically
study the evolution of the university system and to develop disruptive strategies to meet the
challenges of the 21st century. It was felt by many of those, who participated in the previous
meetings of DSTU from all over the country that the ideas of governance being discussed at DSTU

were applicable to all the traditional Universities in the Indian sub-continent. (Brief Reports of the

Department of Education, Government of Gujarat also initiated the idea of the National Education
Summit (NES), and the work done under the research project has given significant contribution in
the summit. We had invited renowned academicians from all over India and the rest of the globe at
GTU on 8th & 9th January, 2014. Research project have also received valuable inputs from the ViceChancellors, thinkers and innovators.
Seminar Description:
This research project will develop a system of Governance by which all Universities is able to
integrate education, training and research in its four disciplines at the level of Diploma, Degree,
Post Graduation and Research. This will also help to identify those organizational components
which are needed to pursue the objective of the Technological Universities and to monitor its
activities related to admission, education, training, research, industry interaction, inter institute
collaboration and international collaborations. It also sensitizes the members in all the institutions
at all levels and to encourage them to put in their best efforts in making GTU a World Class
Technological University.
2nd CCI Technology Education Excellence Awards 2013
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has set up 25 GTU Innovation Sankuls all across Gujarat.
Each Sankul provides a platform for Colleges and surrounding industries to work together. A Sankul
committee is co-chaired by a senior academician and an industry leader. The Consortium of CoChairpersons -Industry (CCI) has decided to give annual awards to recognize the excellence in
different aspects of working of technology Universities. A technology university can present the
work done during the last two years for the award.
The CCI Technology Education Excellence Awards 2014 are being organized jointly with
Communication Multimedia Applications Infrastructure (CMAI) Association of India (www.cmai.asia
and www.cmaievents.com). CMAI is India’s largest ICT association with 48,500 members and 54
MOU partners across the globe. ASSOCHAM, a national Chamber of Commerce and Industries, has
agreed to join the project and has come forward to constitute a Jury, which will have 50% members
from CMAI. This Jury would be able to transparently adjudge the entries on their merit.
