ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
After successful completion of seven different Two days Workshops of “Patenting in Engineering” at
different zone of GTU along with one workshop on “Patenting in Pharmaceuticals” during September
2011 to June 2012, nearly 1000 faculty members have been trained in the aspect of basics of Patents and
IPR, Patent Search, Drafting and Filing of the. Simultaneously awareness seminars on IPR were also
conducted for engineering students wherein nearly 1000 students were sensitized in different zones about
patenting of innovative ideas.
Now in this current semester, students of semester VII are going to identify and finalize their topics for
IDP / UDP. It is necessary that the students finalize the topic for their Final Year project after a
thorough Patent Search. This will add values to the work done by the students during their Final
Year project and bring in a greater innovation to the work at the Colleges.
Therefore during Phase 1, GTU has decided to organize One Day workshops on “Patent Search
Methodology” for the faculty of Engineering at zone level. Simultaneously in Phase-2, the awareness and
Patent search workshop will be organized for the Engineering Students too.
OBJECTIVES
 To provide an Overview of IPR and Patentable subject matters
 To give hands-on-training of Patent searching technique using Open Source database
COURSE CONTENT IN BRIEF
 Basics of IPR and Patent
 Patentable Subject matters in different field of Engineering
 Different techniques for Patent search using Open source Databases
 Demonstration of Patent search for Patentability aspect
RESOURCE PERSONS
Experts from Industry and Academia from Engineering sector will be invited and will be
announced soon on GTU website.

PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY
Engineering Faculty members from GTU affiliated Engineering colleges of Ahmedabad Zone
can participate in this workshop. Maximum 100 participants on first come first basis will be
selected. From each affiliated college, one faculty member from each Branch can participate.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Participating faculties have to make the arrangement for their travel and accommodation.
No TA/DA will be provided by the University.
REGISTRATION FEE

Registration is Free for Faculties from Colleges, affiliated with GTU.
