ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
During Phase-1, after successful completion of seven different Two days Workshop of “Patenting in
Engineering” at different zone of GTU along with one workshop on “Patenting in Pharmaceuticals”
during September 2011 to June 2012, so far nearly 1000 faculty members have been trained in the aspect
of basics of Patents and IPR, Patent Search, Drafting and Filing of the same in the last academic year.
Simultaneously awareness seminar on IPR was also conducted for engineering students wherein nearly
1000 students sensitize at different zone for the same.
Then during Phase-2 (September 2012 to November 2012), again 08 workshops on “Patent Search
Methodology” had been conducted at different zone of GTU. In this process nearly 1400 faculty
members of Engineering discipline has been trained.
Now in this current semester, when students of semester VIII are going to work upon their topics for IDP
/ UDP, it is necessary that if the said topics will be screened thorough Patent Search then it will make
more possibility for Patentable projects. This will add values in the research done by the students at grass
root level and by and large boost up the goal of university to progress towards world class research
oriented university.
GTU has more than 17000 faculty members, out of which so far we can able to reach upto 15% part
only. Therefore in this Phase 3, GTU has decided to continue to organize One Day workshops on “Patent
Search Methodology” for the faculty of Engineering at different zone level.
OBJECTIVES
To provide an Overview of IPR and Patentable subject matters
To give hands-on-training of Patent searching technique using Open Source database

Experts from Industry and Academia from Engineering sector will be invited and will be
announced soon on GTU website.
PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY
Engineering Faculty members of GTU affiliated colleges can participate in this workshop.
Maximum 150 participants on first come first basis will be selected.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Participating faculties have to make necessary arrangement for their travel and accommodation
and TA/DA will not be provided.
REGISTRATION FEE
