Second Grade Times 451 Beall Ave. Rockville, MD 20850 301-279-8460 Classroom Newsletter Issue # 16 This week we attended an assembly called “Overcoming Embarrassment to Achiev e Greatness.” Throughout this assembly students heard the story of Don Campbell and how he created the dance style “Locking.” Students participated in the dance style and were able to see how they can face embarrassment with confidence. Important Dates May 26 – Field trip to Brookside Gardens May 30 – Memorial Day June 14 – Field Day June 20 – Half day of school for students (Make up snow day) Field trip permission slips went home for our May 26 trip to Meadowside Nature Center. Students will not be eating in the school cafeteria. We will eat at the nature center. Please bring a brown bag lunch (disposable materials) or let your teacher know ASAP if your child will be ordering a brown bag lunch from the cafeteria. Thank you! Turn in field trip permission slips and payment as soon as possible! Ask your child to tell you about an achievement that they are most proud of so far this year. Effort/Motivation/Persistence In writing, we used great effort to complete a poetry collection. We were motivated to become poets!
