MOTION OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE
FOR LEAVE TO SUPPLEMENT FURTHER THE
STATEMENT OF PRANAB SHAH
(July 28, 2008)
Among the materials filed by the Postal Service on June 23, 2008, in response to
Order No. 74, was a sworn statement by Pranab M. Shah. Mr. Shah discusses the
Postal Service’s International Money Transfer Services. On June 24, the Postal Service
provided a letter from the Mexican postal administration as a supplemental exhibit to Mr.
Shah’s statement. The Postal Service now moves for leave to file another supplemental
exhibit to the statement, in this instance a letter from Edouard Dayan, Director General,
Universal Postal Union International Bureau. The proposed exhibit is attached to this
motion.
The Postal Service recognizes that Order No. 82 (June 11, 2008) set
Wednesday, July 30, as the deadline for statements to be submitted by other interested
parties in response to those of the Postal Service declarants. Nonetheless, the Postal
Service’s submits that it would be in the mutual interest of all concerned to put the
contents of this letter forward sooner rather than later, and hopes that anyone
contemplating filing a response on Wednesday would still have sufficient time to react to
this letter. (The letter essentially augments the contents of Mr. Shah’s statement, rather
than expanding them in new directions.) If any party finds that not to be the case,
however, the Postal Service certainly would not oppose motions seeking time to
prepare a more adequate response.
