Preamble
Women Engineers in 21st Century have been excelling on
employment front, academics and in developing businesses
by themselves. Many of them have contributed significantly
by joining with their family businesses. In most of the cases
their efforts are under-recognized or even not acknowledged
properly. They are deprived of their deserving monetary as
well as non monetary benefits, apart from the recognition.
However, there are shreds of evidence of women engineers
turning as successful techno-entrepreneurs; some of them
manage their engineering firms successfully. Some of them
even enter into non traditional enterprises by developing new
products and processes. It would be indeed worth for our
women engineering students to listen to some of the
successful women technocrats, their struggles to overcome
adversities and the successes. This will certainly enhance the
confidence with which they can plan for future differently.
The first women engineering college in Gujarat was set up by
the Charutar Vidya Mandal to produce more women
technocrats. Hence, the current topic is more relevant in the
contemporary achievement-oriented society. The workshop
aims at empowering the budding women engineers in the
area of entrepreneurship and understanding it pragmatically.
