Alpha College of Engineering & Technology A Report on Drawing Competition, “Mahatma Gandhi & Cleanliness’’ BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD……. -Mahatma Gandhi It was on January 30, 1948 that Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest martyrs and freedom fighters was assassinated. In order to pay tribute to the father of Nation the honorary Chief Minister of Gujarat state, Smt. Anandiben Patel expressed determination to inspire record 1.28 crore students to express their art skill by drawing massages on cleanliness in state-wide drawing competition on ‘Mahatma Gandhi and Cleanliness’ held on Gandhi Nirvan Din on January 30, 2015.As Mahatma Gandhi said "Sanitation is more important than independence". He made cleanliness and sanitation an integral part of the gandhian way of living. Alpha College of Engineering and Technology gave its active contribution to fulfill the vision of gandhian philosophy by organizing the drawing competition on January 30, 2015 under the theme ‘Mahatma Gandhi and Cleanliness’. We conferred almost 500 entries for this completion. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. D. D. Shukla, Principal, Prof. Narendra Mahavadia HOD, Department of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Sagar Patel, HOD Department of Information Technology, Prof. Jaimin Dave, HOD, Department of Computer Engineering, Prof. Vijay Baria, HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Nirav Vaghasia, HOD Department of Civil Engineering, Prof Manoj Patel, HOD Diploma Computer Engineering and Prof. Mahendra Ramavat, HOD, Diploma Civil Engineering. The progarmme was initiated by Prof. Ajay Shah, Department of Computer Engineering who narrated the principles of Gandhiji by focusing upon speeding awareness among citizens about sanitation and its linkages with public health and a behavioral change in people regarding healthy sanitation practices. In the second phase Dr. D.D. Shukla, shared the view of Shri Narendra Modi, Honorary Prime Minister, India on the correlation of Swacch Bharat and cleanliness with economic activity of the country. He said, "The pursuit of cleanliness can be an economic activity, contributing to GDP growth, reduction in healthcare costs, and a source of employment." At the conclusion of this Inauguration Ceremony of this event, joint pledge taking was conducted by Alpha Family consisting principal, faculties, non teaching Staff as well as students. Alphadians also observed 2 minutes of silence in order to pay tribute to the father of nation on Martyrs day; who scarified and bestowed their life for the nation. The main event, i.e. the drawing competition started under the guidance of coordinators and faculty members. Students- youth of nation poured the colors of the creativity and unique idea on the canvas. Principal Dr. D.
