Computer Engineering Department of Parul Institute of Engineering and Technology (Diploma
Studies, 1st Shift) organized One Day Workshop on “Basic Knowledge of Mobile Development
Application” under Gujarat Technological University MWTC Using Android” in association with
Investis Pvt. Ltd. on 24th January 2014.
The workshop was aimed to ignite the students to take up mobile application development using
Android environment. Around 125 Students and Faculty members participated actively in this
workshop.
The workshop started with the Inaugural function at 9:00 AM. Asst.Prof Komal, Program
Coordinator gave an introductory speech and shared few words on the objectives of the
workshop with participants. In her inaugural speech she welcomed Mr. Rajendrasinh Parmar,
App Developer at Investis Pvt.Ltd, Prof. Ruchi Shrivastava, Principal of Parul Institute of
Engineering and Technology (Diploma Studies, 1st Shift), Bhumika Pandya,Head of Computer
Engineering Department, students and Faculty members.
Prof. Ruchi Shrivastava motivated the students to participate in such kind of events and she also
shared her views on importance of technical activities in development of student carrier.
The session started at 9:30 AM by Mr. Rajendrasinh Parmar. He started with the introduction
of open source android platform.
He explained the software architecture layer and android application architecture to the
participants. He discussed different widget and layouts used in android application. He also
explained different types of intents, activities and services.
After that, He gave demonstration on how to make basic android applications.
After the completing demonstration session, practical session was arranged in the Computer Lab
and students prepared a basic android application.
The workshop was a great success and very well appreciated by participants and were also
demanding to arrange such kind of workshops in near future. The workshop came to an end by
presenting a memento to Mr. Rajendrasinh Parmar. We are thankful to Investis Pvt.Ltd for
providing us technical support.
