GTU organized Short Term Training Program on CAD, Advance Simulation and Manufacturing using NX Software in Collaboration with L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad during 25th May, 2015 to 6th June, 2015

GUJARAT TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
organized
SHORT TERM TRAINING PROGRAM ON
“CAD, Advance simulation and Manufacturing using NX
Software”
(25/05/2015 to 06/06/2015)
in COLLABORATION with
L. D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad
During 25/05/2015 to 06/06/2015, the Centre of Excellence- Siemens has organized, Gujarat
Technological University sponsored, short term training program (STTP) at L.D. college of
Engineering for the faculties from different engineering college from Gujarat for 2 weeks on
“CAD, Advance simulation and Manufacturing using NX software”. Total 60 faculty
members from different engineering colleges of Gujarat have participated in the training. The
training was intended to provide understanding of NX Cad and its capabilities for conceptual
design, 3D design documentation and enable the participants to Know the most comprehensive
modeling techniques like solid modeling, parametric design, Sheet metal Design. To facilitate
participants to know about Synchronous Modeling(only solution deployed by NX for Flexible
Design in Open Environment), brief introduction to the simulation, process, understand the
nomenclature and know the types of file generated during the process, generate a report of the
analysis performed and the geometric modification and idealization using synchronize modeling
techniques.
The STTP was inaugurated by Dr. G.P. Vadodaria (Principal, LDCE) in the presence of Dr. G.H.
Upadhyay (HoD, Mech. Engg.) and Dr. Nishith Bhatt (GM-Gujarat Region, DesignTech) at
Aryabhatt hall of the institute. During the two weeks of the training, various topics like,
meshing techniques for 1D, 2D & 3D including mesh connection, introduction to advance
simulation application and its interface, understand the contact and gluing and the concept of
symmetry analysis, to animate and analyze an assembly of moving parts using 2D, 3D contacts,
introduction to CAM and its concepts, analyzing a manufacturing part and the tools related to
it, introduction to NX and Its interface, sketching methods and constraints, measuring
techniques, editing parametric models, associative curve operations and emboss geometry, etc.
were explained to the participants by the eminent speakers from the DesignTech Limited. The
participants also had interactive discussions with the speakers and hands-on practical sessions
on the different modules of the NX software.
On the last day, the valedictory program of the two week STTP was arranged. The participants
were addressed by Dr. G.P. Vadodaria (Principal, LDCE), Dr. G.H. Upadhyay (HoD, Mech. Engg.)
and Dr. Nishith Bhatt (GM-Gujarat Region, DesignTech) about the need of such training
programs and also upcoming training programs at LDCE. The feedback of the STTP, received
from the participants, was excellent. At the end of the valedictory program, the participants
were awarded the certificates by the dignitaries.
