Report on NCTWE-2015
The National Conference on Transportation and Water Resources Engineering – NCTWE
2015 was organized on 25th and 26th, April 2015. The conference was organized by Gujarat Technological
University in collaboration with L. D. College of Engineering. The objective of National Conference on
'Transportation and Water resource Engineering' (NCTWE - 2015) was to bring together the researchers,
scientists, engineers, scholar students and professionals to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas
and research results in areas of Transportation Engineering and Water resources Engineering. The
conference focused on the identification of the practical challenges encountered in the field and their
possible solutions through presentations and discussions. The conference intended to encourage inventions,
scientific investigations and research for promoting their applications in these sectors and to appraise
various aspects of Transportation and Water Resources Engineering.
The conference had received an overwhelming response from the date of its announcement.
97 papers, 43 for Transportation Engineering and 54 for Water Resources Engineering were received from
the researchers of the esteemed institutes across the country. These papers were reviewed by an elite review
committee consisting of researchers from the institutes of National repute like IITs, NITs, CRRI and other
such leading institutes. 67 research papers were suggested acceptable after the peer review by minimum two
reviewers. Their meticulous job had enabled the enhancement of quality of research papers.
The National Conference was inaugurated with the blessings of Prof. (Dr.) S. L. Dhingra,
(Chief Guest), Professor, Emeritus, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He encouraged the
researchers in the field of Transportation and Water Resources Engineering. He discussed importance of
research, its application in the field of Transportation and Water Resources Engineering. He also delivered
his speech on the various aspects of “Smart Cities – in India” in the plenary session. The presence of Prof.
(Dr.) S. L. Dhingra in the conference and adroitness knowledge had motivated all the researchers.
Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Vadodaria, Principal, L. D. College of Engineering, Prof. A. M. Malek, Head of
Department, Civil Engineering, also inspired all the Research Scholars, Professionals through motivated
speech. Prof. (Dr.) M. B. Dholakia delivered the vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, the Principal and
Head of Department for gracing the National Conference.
On the 25th and 26th April, 2015, 10 sessions were conducted on the various topics of
Transportation and Water Resources Engineering. The experts of the sessions for theme of Transportation
Engineering were invited from IIT, Roorkee, IISc, Bangaluru, IIT, Guwahati, SVNIT, Surat, Tatva
Engineering College, Modasa and L. D. College of Engineering. The experts of the sessions for theme of
Water Resources Engineering were invited from MNIT, Jaipur, SVNIT, Surat, IIT, Roorkee, M. S.
University, Vadodara, Parul Institute of Technology, Vadodara, Sardar Sarovar Nigam Ltd. All the session
chairs are the eminent personalities of their field. Followings were the research area discussed in the

River Engineering and Computational Methods

Shri Mukesh Puri, IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt., GoG and Prof. (Dr.) P. R. Dave, Joint
Director), Commissionerate, Technical Education, visited the conference on 25/4/2015. They
congratulated the Principal for conducting the National Conference.
All the research papers were reviewed in the various sessions. All the session chairs had reviewed the
research works and gave rank to each presentation. The presentations were reviewed meticulously
considering the content of the presentation, delivery of the presentation, dressing, time management and
ability to answer the queries raised by the session chairs and audience.
Mr. Vishal M. Chauhan (L. D. College of Engineering), Ms. Summit Kaur (L. D. College of
Engineering) and Ms. Minal Patel (M. S. University) were declared winners and were awarded as
‘અગ્રીય સંશોધનપરસ્કારુ’ with
Resources Engineering.

The valedictory functions was graced by Chief Guest, Shri B. N. Navalawala, Chief
Advisor to CM, Govt. of Gujarat, Guest of Honor, Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Patel, Vice Chancellor,
Gujarat University, Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Vadodaria, Principal, L. D. College of Engineering. Prof.
(Dr.) M. N. Patel encouraged all the researchers. He inspired staff members of Civil Engineering
Department to provide the platform to the researchers in future also. Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Patel
praised the researchers for getting involved in the sessions. Our Chief Guest, Shri B. N.
Navalawala, also shared his views about the conference. He delivered the speech about the need of
the research in the present era and motivated all the researchers. Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Vadodaria also
thanked Chief Guest, Shri B. N. Navalawala, Chief Advisor to CM, Govt. of Gujarat, and
Guest of Honor, Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Patel, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University, for sparing the
valuable time for the National Conference and grace the valedictory function. He assured to plan the
National Conference in future also in the campus. Prof. (Dr.) P. J. Gundaliya delivered the vote of
thanks to all the research scholars, reviewers, professionals, members of Advisory committee and
core committee, members of various committees, dotcom publication, food agency and others who
contributed directly or indirectly for making the national conference a grand success.
