Come Learn Reading Strategies at Principal’s Parent Coffees
We had another fantastic Principal’s Parent Coffee on December 22.
On a rainy morning two days before Winter Break, 52 parents came
New
and participated in our discussion and learning. We talked about the
Hampshire
importance of reading aloud to your children, even when they are
estates
very young. We discussed the benefits for young children when they
e l e m e n t a r y hear the same story over and over again. Then we read one of the most famous stories for
young children: Good Night, Moon. We looked carefully at each of the pictures and discussed
School
what we noticed and what children could learn from the book. Many parents participated in
the discussion. Each parent received a copy of the book in English and a copy in Spanish, and
volume 6
P u b l i c a t i o n 4 they were able to take the books home with them to use with their families. Our Principal’s
Parent Coffee this month will be Tuesday, January 26, at 9:00 a.m. We will be reading
together another book in English and Spanish, and parents will be able to keep the books for
Jan 2016
use with their families. I hope you can join us!

The cold weather has finally come! Please make sure that your children come to school
dressed for the weather. This will include a jacket, hat, and gloves or mittens. If the
temperature is 32 degrees or higher, students will be going outside for recess, so they
should be dressed for the cold. If you need assistance with cold weather clothing, please
contact the school and ask for one of our counselors, Ms. Schmiech and Ms. Dewitt.
Our counselors have some used cold weather clothing available for students who need them.
