Greetings Families,
These last six weeks of school are a very important time. Students have built up a strong base in the f undamentals of
reading, writing, and mathematics. This strong base allows the teachers to push the students to deeper levels of
thinking and to challenge them to work at higher levels. It’s also an exciting time, with concerts, poetry readings, f ield
day, promotion ceremonies, and other special events. Please make sure your child is here every single day, right up
until our last day, which is now Monday, June 15th.
What a great pleasure it has been to be your principal over the past eight years! It’s been an honor and a privilege. I will
miss you and your children very much and I wish you the blessings of good health, lots of success, and much happiness!

Este mes, nuestros alumnos participaron en el programa “Pennies for Patients” que recauda dinero
para la Sociedad de lucha contra la leucemia y el linfoma. ¡¡¡Nuestra escuela recaudó $3.394,66!!!
Eso es más de $1.000 más que el año
pasado! Todo el mundo aquí en el Kemp

Message from Linkages to Learning
Are you interested in having your opinions heard? Are you
interesting in impacting the programming provided to your
children and the community? Join our Linkages to Learning
parent group. Parents will work closely with the Linkages to
Learning team to improve Linkages to Learning services and
programming. Our next meeting will be on May 21 at 9:30am in
the Linkages to Learning Suite.

STEMShip Landed!
The Federation of Galaxy Explorers came to Kemp Mill on
the 23rd of April. Students in fifth grade participated in their
STEMShip experience.
Summer Program – Extended
Learning Opportunities (ELO)
This summer, we will again offer the Title I summer school program entitled ELO, or
Extended Learning Opportunities, open to all students who will be entering
kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 in the 2015-2016 school year. This K,1,2 program
will continue to have a focus on building math and literacy skills. Don’t miss out on this
wonderful opportunity.

Hi KMES families!
Did you know that we are celebrating Staff Appreciation the week of May 4th through May 8th? Please
remind your child to say, "THANK YOU!" to the teachers and staff at school for their tireless
efforts. The PTA is working hard to organize events each day of the week to honor the teachers and
staff at school including: lunch from Chipotle and special water bottles, customized reusable shopping
bags, cookies and pastries with coffee, Scholastic Dollars for each grade to spend on books and
equipment for the classrooms, soup and salad bar lunch, and Starburst candies. We could use your
help with dessert donations or your help during some of the events. Please contact:

Join us Tuesday, May 5th at 6:30pm for our monthly PTA meeting. We’re going to talk with Bronda
Mills, Elementary School Associate Superintendent, about the process for selecting a new principal to
fill the vacant position.
The Spring Dance is coming! Join us at school Friday, May 22nd at 6:30pm. We'll have dancing,
dinner, and tons of fun!

Message from our PBIS Committee
This month the PBIS character education pillar
we are focusing on is Respectful and
Responsible. The PBIS event for this month is
our Talent Show, and it will be on Friday, May
22nd from 1:50 – 3:20pm. We are excited to
show how great we can be as respectful and
responsible audience members as we cheer on
our student performers!
Each year two 5th graders are chosen to
represent Kemp Mill in the Montgomery County
Elementary Honors Chorus. After auditioning all
interested 5th graders, the top two scores
belonged to Kamel Tchantchampo and Elizabeth
Eskinder. Kamel and Elizabeth have been
rehearsing every Tuesday evening since
February with a chorus of over 200 5th graders!
Their concert will be performed on May 12th at
Paint Branch High School.
Yearbooks
The yearbooks are coming! The
yearbooks will be arriving at Kemp
Mill during the f irst week in June.
This year the cover was designed
by 5th graders. The students who
designed the cover are Cianna
Lee, Fabiola Ordonez, Josue
Palacios, and Bryan Veizaga.
Order forms will be sent home at

La “Federation of Galaxy Explorers” llegó a Kemp

Este verano, volveremos a of recer el programa de la escuela de verano del Título I
titulado “ELO,” o oportunidades de aprendizaje extendidas, abierto a todos los
estudiantes que van a entrar a la Kindergarten, grado 1 y grado 2 en el año escolar
2015-2016. Este programa K, 1,2 seguirá teniendo un enfoque en el desarrollo de

Este mes el pilar de educación del carácter
“PBIS” en el que nos estamos centrando es
respetuosa y responsable. El evento “PBIS”
para este mes es nuestro Show de talento, y
será el viernes, 22 de mayo de 1:50-3:20.
¡Estamos muy contentos de mostrar lo tan
bueno que podemos ser como miembros de
la audiencia respetuosas y responsables,
mientras animamos a nuestros artistas
estudiantiles!
Cada año dos estudiantes de 5to grado son
elegidos para representar a Kemp Mill en el Coro
de primaria de honores del condado de
Montgomery. Después de hacerles una audición a
todos los estudiantes de 5to grado quienes
estaban interesados, las dos anotaciones más
altas pertenecían a Kamel Tchantchampo y
Elizabeth Eskinder. ¡Kamel y Elizabeth han estado

El Día de Juegos se llevará a cabo el martes ,19 de mayo. La clase de Pre-K de la mañana, Kindergarten,
primero y segundo grado irán en la mañana (9:30 am - 12:00 pm). La cla se de Pre-K de la tarde, Head Start,
tercero, cuarto y quinto grado irán en la tarde (1:00 pm - 3:20 pm). ¡Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo este listo
para el Día de Juegos recordándole que lleve ropa adecuada para la actividad, use zapatos tenis, lleve una
