Dear Parents,
Can you believe the year is almost over? For some of you this means your last
baby is leaving Rockwell, for others, it is the first time you will get to
experience the fabulous fifth grade end of the year activities. At the bottom
of this letter is a list of dates for upcoming events. Be sure to put them on
your calendar!

As is the tradition in 5​
grade, your child will be making a memory book. This

memory book is “presented” to your child at the farewell ceremony on June 16​
,
and they are encouraged to bring it to school on the last day for our famous (or
is that infamous) memory book/yearbook-signing event. In order to make these
memory books, ​
each child will have to bring in:
✓ 2 pieces of 9” x 12” cardboard, ​
cut to size at home
✓ 2 pieces of 11” x 14” fabric​
, also cut to size at home

These materials need to be in school by Friday, May 31​

The books will be made on Friday, June 3​
and Monday, June 6​
. We will need

some parent support on Friday, June 3​from 2:10-3:10 to help assemble books.
Thank you to those who already volunteered to help. If you are interesting in
helping, please let your child‛s teacher know.
In addition, students will need to bring in colored or designed duct tape. We‛ve
seen camouflage, Hello Kitty, and tons of other new designs. Remember, it must
be ​
DUCT TAPE​
. Painter‛s tape and plastic tape that you buy at most craft or
hardware stores are not strong enough to do the job.
