Good Afternoon Georgian Forest Families,
The purpose of this message is to communicate information regarding the administration of the Partnership
for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) at Georgian Forest Elementary School. In
spring 2015, all students in Grades 3–8 in Montgomery County will take PARCC assessments in English
language arts (ELA)/literacy and mathematics. These assessments will replace the Maryland School
Assessments (MSA).
The PARCC assessments are aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and will measure the
essential literacy and problem-solving skills that students need to be successful in college and careers.
While many current state tests do not measure the ability of students to think critically and apply their
knowledge, the PARCC asssessment will test writing skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
These critical thinking skills are an integral part of MCPS Curriculum 2.0.
At Georgian Forest, we are committed to administering these assessments in an organized manner that will
have the least possible interruption on teaching and learning. The schedule for assessments are as follows:

To ensure the children are familiar with the on-line features and accurately grouped for accommodations,
we have administered a practice test to all students in Grades 3 – 5.
During the assessment days, please make all efforts to make sure your child is present and on time. We

Good Afternoon Georgian Forest Families,
El propósito de este mensaje es para informarles sobre los exámenes de Evaluación de la Asociación
Preparatoria para la Universidad y Oficios (PARCC) en la Escuela Primaria Georgian Forest. En la
primavera del 2015, todos los estudiantes de los grados 3-8 en el Condado de Montgomery tomarán los
exámenes PARCC en inglés, lectura y matemáticas. Estas evaluaciones reemplazarán las evaluaciones de
Maryland y las evaluaciones actuales estatales de lectura y matemáticas.
