The Metamorphosis Project 2014 Learning Conference July 21‐23 Mountain Brook High School MB‐S14250 Using Reader’s Notebooks: Collecting Evidence of Reading and Writing Standards Wednesday, July 23 9:00‐11:00 a.m. MBHS Target Audience: Teachers K‐6 Writing about reading in a reader's notebook gives students the opportunity to process information and reflect about their reading. Writing about reading in a reader's notebook gives teachers another form of data to use when assessing a student's progress towards mastery of the Reading and Writing College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS). This session will accomplish 3 things: 1. discuss the effective use of reader's notebooks, 2. show examples of reader's notebook entries from students in 2nd‐6th grade, and 3. compare entries to show how students across grade levels can demonstrate their understanding and application of the CCRS standards.
