Trust Information Programs Services (T.I.P.S.) By: Mike Langenbacher TIPS began in 2008, in collaboration between Camp Good Days and Special Times, the Rochester Police Department, and Rise Up Rochester. Selected neighborhoods are visited and teams involving community representatives and public employees interview residents to determine the quality of life in their neighborhood. Through these interactions, community members are given a chance to interact with the police in a positive manner, and information regarding perceptions around crime and violence is recorded anonymously and presented to stakeholders. Residents are provided information on services such as health care, reporting crime, and quality of life issues. TIPS has visited 14 neighborhoods since 2008, and four more will be visited this summer. The first TIPS of 2013 will be held on Thursday May 16th in Pulaski Park. For more information or copies of the TIPS reports, please visit rit.edu/cla/cpsi and look under ‘Our Work’ Respondents are asked a number of questions about the state of their neighborhood and their feelings towards the area. The charts above combines all of the responses for the 2012 TIPS season.
