Second Grade September Newsletter
We are looking forward to another great year in 2nd Grade! These first few weeks
we will take time to get to know each other, our classrooms, and our school. In reading, we
will review strategies that good readers use before, during, and after reading. We are
beginning math instruction with looking for patterns on a hundreds chart and place value.
We will be administering our fall reading tests (MClass) starting September 10th.
Please note: information from school that needs to be filled out should be returned
as soon as possible. Green take home folders will be sent home nightly. Please review the
information nightly and return the green folder each day. Whenever you are sending
money to school for special activities please be sure the money is placed in an envelope
with your child’s name and the activity. If you are sending money for a cafeteria account
please be sure to write your child’s name and pin number on the check.
Homework packets were given out on Tuesday, September 8th. They should be returned
on Friday. We will be starting a new homework system and will talk about this at Back to
School Night. We will take our spelling tests on Fridays unless other-wise noted. Your
child should read for at least 15 minutes each night. Please initial the reading calendar
each night of reading and return the calendar on the first day of the next month.
We look forward to meeting all parents at Back to School Night on September 15th so we
can discuss expectations for a successful year.
