Labor Day
Birthdays
If you would like to share a treat
with the class on your child’s birthday,
please send in individually wrapped treats.
Some suggestions are: fruit snacks, fun
size candy, granola bars, etc. The treats
will be distributed to the class at the end of
the day. This is a school wide policy. If
you have any questions, please contact the
teacher.
In The Classroom
In Math, we will focus on using
different strategies to develop number sense.
We will be counting one less, one more, ten
less, ten more, focus on number sense of place
value, and graph in a variety of ways.
In Reading, we will focus on asking and
answering questions. The students will also
begin to identify story elements such as
characters, setting, problem, and solution. We
strongly encourage that you read with your
child daily at home. Be sure to ask questions
about the story after reading to help develop
your child’s reading comprehension. This will
only benefit your child.
In Science, we look at relationships
between observable features of plants and
animals and fulfilling basic needs. In Social
Studies, we will focus on contributions of people
important to the American political system, and
symbols and practices of the U.S.
