CAPTAIN JAMES E. DALY JR. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER
DECEMBER 2015
The Principal’s Corner
Welcome back after a long holiday weekend. I
hope you were able to spend special time with
family or friends.
Daly will be offering a FLU Clinic on Thursday,
December 16. Parents will not need to be present;
however, we will need a consent form signed by
the parents before that date. Please see the
attached letter for more information.
Parents, as a reminder, if your child is late coming
to school, please walk your child into the building.
You will need to sign in your child in the main
office. Please do not drop your child off at the
entrance.
We have a lot of students arriving to school early,
so I would like to remind you that children are not
entering the building before 9:05 a.m. With the
colder or rainy weather, children are waiting
outside without supervision. Please do not drop
your child off early. Thank you.
The holiday season is upon us, and since we have
many thoughtful generous parents, we wanted to
note the ethics policy for the county regarding gift
giving. Teachers are not supposed to accept gifts
from individuals valuing over $20.00. Please
know that gifts are not expected and staff
appreciates your cards and good wishes.

PTA News:
Dear Daly Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break with friends and family. The PTA would like to thank
everyone who came out to the Scholastic Book Fair and purchased books in support of the teachers and students
of Daly. We would also like to thank everyone who came out to our first ever Sprit Breakfast at Dunkin
Doughnuts on Saturday, November 21st. Thanks again to everyone that came out in support of these events.
With your support, we are able to give back to our kids by providing free soccer lessons during recess to Daly
student from Advanti Soccer.
At this time, we would like to inform everyone about our December 17th meeting from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the
school library. It will be a social event, so come out and meet and get to know other Daly Families. There will
also be a special guest speaker, so we look forward to seeing you there. Also, December 16th is our next Spirit
night, which will be held at Café Rio. This fundraiser will be all day - not just for dinner!
Do you have any time to spare? We have other upcoming events such as Bingo Night and movie night. We
welcome anyone that would like to volunteer or co-coordinate these events. If you are interested, please let me
know by emailing me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Denise Franklin

For Your Child’s Safety
Parents, if your child is a car rider, please pick him or her up in the car rider circle. Please do
not park and leave your car in the car rider circle. You will need a new car rider number
to do this, as the numbers from last year are no longer valid. As you pick up your child in the
circle, please pull up as far as possible so that the car line does not back up. Please do not
park on the street and ask children to cross the bus lane to meet you on the hill or near
the street. Some of our children have crossed in areas without a crossing guard or in front of
buses, and this has been very unsafe.
If you do not wish to wait in the car pick-up area, please walk to the main entrance to meet
your child. If you meet your child at the main entrance, your child is considered a walker.
Please be sure to let your child’s teacher or the school office know if there are any changes
with how your child is to leave school. We will not accept a child’s verbal notification of any
change.
