Lt. Col. Kathie Sheperd '77 - Colonel Sheperd was a member of the 12 women
White Falcon drill team. The White Falcons were part of Angel Flight, an all
women auxiliary of the Arnold Air Society. They competed in the same meets as
the Silver Wings (now called the Silver Talons), but in the women's category. Col
Sheperd is retired from the USAF as a maintenance officer and now working as a
weapons acquisition support contractor.

Lt. Col. Dave Newbern '65 – Colonel Newbern retired from the USAF as an
Engineering Officer and has worked for TASC since 1987. TASC has been
owned by three different companies, most recently by Northrop Grumman. Col.
Newbern is a Program Manager at TASC supporting Intel Community programs.

Lt. Col. Michael Welborn - Col Welborn is a University of Oregon graduate and he
retired from active duty in 2011. He was the Commandant of Cadets at OSU from 2001
to 2003. He served three tours in the Middle East including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and a
one-year tour to Baghdad, Iraq. He is currently a Senior Analyst for MCR Federal
supporting Space Acquisitions.

Capt. Lloyd Wright ’08 – Captain Wright is presently stationed at RAF
Lakenheath in Suffolk, England where he pilots the F-15E Strike Eagle for the
494th Fighter Squadron, The Mighty Black Panthers. He finished Pilot Training in
Oct 2010 and became fully Mission Qualified in April 2012.

Capt Taylor Tipton ’07 – Capt. Tyler Tipton ’07 – Capt. Tipton joined the Oregon
Army National Guard after graduating from Roseburg HS in 2002. He was a
stinger missile launcher (14M) for most of his 2-year guard career, but also drove
trucks (88M) and was a Military Policeman (31B) before receiving a scholarship
with AFROTC. After graduating from OSU and commissioning, he was stationed
at Beale AFB in "casual" status prior to pilot training, which started in Sept '08 at
Vance AFB. He received his wings in Oct '09 at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.
Capt. Tipton finished C-130 training at Little Rock AFB (also where he is
stationed until 2013 with his wife Holly) in May of 2010. Capt. Tipton has been
deployed to Kuwait/Iraq (2011) and is currently (spring-fall 2012) deployed to
Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lt. Col. Paul Jones '65 - Colonel Jones served as a Weapons Controller in
Squadron, command and staff positions during his Air Force career. He retired
from the Air Force in 1986 and went to work for Hughes Aircraft as a Systems
Engineer. His Hughes division was sold to General Motors, then Raytheon.
Colonel Jones retired from Raytheon in 2005. He is now editor of The Wingspan,
a free, monthly email newsletter that is distributed to over 500 OSU AFROTC
alumni and friends of AFROTC at OSU.
