• In order for students
to take advantage of some
of the new technology resources, students must
have an email account.
• K-12 students have been given email accounts
that are accessible through Google.
• Email accounts do not necessarily mean that
students will send and receive emails outside of
school. They may be used to simply login to
programs such as Moodlerooms or
VoiceThreads.
Technology
• Students have the ability to use the BWF wireless
network on their
own personal devices. This network, if logged into with a student
login and password, is filtered. Student use of 3G on devices is
strictly prohibited at BWF. Student use of personal devices at school
is subject to individual teacher’s plans and procedures. Students
are not allowed to use these devices at BWF in common areas
without teacher permission.
• If you plan on having a student have a device at school (for reading
or other purposes) please sign this form. You are welcome to take it
home and look over it – but please send it back in with any device
that will be used at school.

6th Grade Responsibility Plan
•
Friday Incentive – Students will earn a Friday incentive if he or she exhibits the BWF Way throughout the week. Students will have the
opportunity to select from various choices. If a student earns 10 positive behavior marks in one month, they will receive an extra
incentive (extra recess, vending voucher, preschool/office helper, etc.).
•
Responsibility Calendar – The purpose of the Responsibility Calendar is to inform parents of weekly student behavior and incomplete
assignments. Positive and negative behaviors will be noted in the student agenda on each monthly calendar. Parents are expected to
sign the calendar every Thursday after school.
•
Isolated Lunch – Student will eat lunch in an assigned classroom isolated from their peers.
•
Detention – Detention lasts 45 minutes after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-3:45 in the assigned classroom. Detention
will not be used as a Study Hall. An appropriate assignment will be given. After serving three detentions, a behavior conference will be
held with the parents. If necessary, a referral to the Child Study Team will be scheduled.
•
While no plan works for all children, this plan is in place for children in 6 th grade. At any time this plan is not working for a particular student,
a new plan will be developed.
•
Some students may require an individual behavior intervention plan, which will be developed by appropriate school personnel.
•
Students are required to have a parent signature if an infraction occurred during the week. If it is not signed, Friday Incentive is automatically
lost.
iClub
What is iClub?
An opportunity for high school students to teach small groups of sixth
graders a specific set of skills or passion that culminate in
activities/projects. For example, a student who is really into
photography spends a semester (1 lesson/week) teaching students three
basic objectives about photography. The last week of the semester the
students might have a gallery of their pictures to share with the
community.

Reading
•
•
•
Our theme this year is “Building a Reading
Life.” We hope to support students with
a strong reading foundation by
customizing instruction.
Students need time for us to care about
their independent reading. We need time
to show concern and celebrate together.
Students need time for explicit
instruction and application in researched
based strategies that proficient readers
use.
