Final Exam Format
June 2015
Oral Communication (20 points)
 Students will have individual conversations with their teacher based on a topic studied during the
semester.
 This portion of the final exam is administered during class, not during the two hour block of time
allotted to the exams.
Interpretive Mode (50 points)
Listening Comprehension – 18 points
 Students will listen to their teacher read short passages related to topics studied during the
semester.
 They will then answer selected response questions in English.
Reading Comprehension – 20 points
 Students will read four passages related to topics studied during the semester.
 They will answer selected response questions in English.
 There are two versions of each passage, one in traditional characters and one in simplified
characters.
Command of Language – 12 points
 Students will select the best completion for sentences.
 This section contains grammatical structures studied during the semester.
 There are two versions of each set of sentences, one in traditional characters and one in
simplified characters.
Presentational Mode (20 points)
 Students will respond to two different writing prompts, each worth 10 points, based on topics
studied during the semester.
 Students will be required to write one paragraphs of at least 45 characters for each prompt.
Culture (10 points)
 Students will respond, in English, to two questions about cultural topics studied during the semester.
