The Faculty Counci met in regular session at 4:00 o!clock in room
208, Memorial Unio with the fa llowing members present: Apple (for
Frazier), Beach, B rry, Bogart, Brandon, Charley, Clinton, Colby,
Dunn, Friday, Gilf llan, Gili~ey, Goode, Hansen, Heath, Hovland,
Langton, Lemon, Lo seth, Norton, Ordeman, Pfanner, Plath (for Wood),
Pratt, Raabe, Read Richardson, Robinson, Shideler, Sisson (for
Grill), Stone, Str nd, Tressler, Williams, Winger. Also present:
Professor R. K. Carpbell.

curriculum and sup orting courses and course adjustments. B:'esident
Strand read excerp s from the minutes of the January meeting of the
State Board of Hig er Education in which statements had been adopted on Board propo als for revisions in the state retirement program. He referred to current criticisms of a recent book by Dr.
Arthur E. Bestor, r., professor of history at the University of
Illinois, entitled 'Education Wastelands."
He said he thought the
book thought provo ing, hoped some of the council members would
read it and report their reactions.
