APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes for 1952 were decla ANDERSON REPORT President Strand presented aspects of the "Anderson Report," particularly the five chief recomnendations on element~~y teacher educatio • He said he believed the State Board of Higher Educatio would welcome an expression of the position of the Oregon State College faculty. He asked for discussion with regard to rocedure and views •. he meetings of october 8 and November 14, d approved. Questions and d·scussion brought out the fact that while it was known that he recommendations at first were parallel in applying to the three Colleges of Education, the Portland State Extension Center" and Oregon state College" the final recommendations discriminated against Oregon state College in respect to s pporting majors in oumamt.aes and social science. INDUSTRIAL ARTS GURRICULUI1 Dr. Sherburne t n referred to an unsettled ~uestion regarding the Industrt 1Arts CurriculUllIle The department had been unable as yet to revise the cu:rric:ulum to keep itwithin the 192 term hours~ quired for a degree through the school of Education. Discussion developed that no recomme ation had been formulated except that the Curriculum Coun '1 had voted that the curriculum should either be reduced to l~ hours or t.ranarerred back to the School of Engineering. Good said that if transfer of the curriculum were to be included in the curricular report to the Board, action would be necess r,y at the Jneeting as the report was due at the Chandellor f office Dei::ember15. The Council on motion voted to approv such tran:sfer provided it had the recommendation of both deans concerned and the Curriculum Council. JANUARY MEETING President Stranq calle attention to the fa,ct that election to the Faculty Counci should be held in December to take effect January ~ and t at the annual electi.on of Faculty Council officers and ecucive Committee mf~bers would take place at the January eting. He said that the Executive Committee urged Facult Council representatives of schools to inform their colle gues of the functions of the Faculty Council and obtain s gestions for desirable agenda for Faculty Council meeti gs.
