MISCELLANEOUS
President Strandtr ad from a recent communication from the
American Council 0 Education referring to a proposed federal
amendment to the S cia]. Security legislation woul.d make faculties eligible. Dr Campbell said that the AAUP has sent a
letter to faculty r embers suggesting that they write to members
of Congress on thi matter. President Strand said that it
would probably be esirable to have a special meeting of the
Faculty Council 1a er in May to act on candidates for degrees
and hear a report

TELEVISION
President Strand s etched developments in the direction of
making television vailable for education. He referred to
the large cost, th possibility of network services provided
for educational st tions by foundations and other agencies,
and the special im_ortance of television to Oregon stat~
College with its s ate-wide program of adult education~
Mr. Scheel spoke a a recent joint purchase by Oregon state
College and the Ge eral Extension Division of a machine for
sound film, a step toward pr-oductdon for television.
