7 December 1950
ROLL CALL
President Strand aIled the Faculty Council to order in special session at 4:00 otclock in room 110, Commerce Hall. The
members present v re: Beach, Blackwell (for Ordeman), Blanch,
Bollen, Butts, C pbell, Childs, Cleaveland, Cockerline, Colby, Cooney, Cross n, Davies, Demuth, Diedesch, Dimick, Fincke

The members of the Curriculum Council were
specially invite to be present at the meeting; of the nine

COUNCIL
He welcomed the embers of the Curriculum Council who were
present and expr ssed his thanks to the council for its
many hours in co sideration df curricular proposals. He
called on Dr. Sh rburne, Cha~rman, to present the report of

Dr. Friedman rais d the question about meeting the requirements of Ca Ll.f'cr

It was
suggested that fo students wishing to meet the California
requirement it wo Id be possible to register for six hours

department approv s. Dean Gleesoh explained that the dropping of the major in mining engineering looks toward a
possible regional curriculum in some institution in the
region. In respo se to questions, Dean Crossen said that
the new five-year curriculum in pharmacy contains no pharmao y
courses in the fi st two years. Among other comments, Prl3sident Strand refer ed to the plan for special numbers for
temporary courses and said , "this is an important proposal
but it wiLl, have 0 be used judicious l;yor we won't have it
very long."

Dr. Swarthout mov d that the Faculty Oounc i I approve the

proposals for the 1951-52 Catalog. The motion was seconded,
put to vote, and 'vas declared carried.
