Junior 2016 Parking Permit Application

Dear Junior Students and Parents:
This letter is to inform you that we are now accepting applications for parking permits in the lower lot only from current
juniors for the remainder of 2016 Spring Semester. As a reminder, parking permits are a privilege, not a right. An
application is to be submitted to Ms. Kemp, in the Main Office, no later than Friday, May 20th by 2:30 p.m. No
applications or insurance information will be accepted after this date/time. If approved, you will receive a call home
on May 25th to pick up your permits on Thursday, May 26th from 2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. outside the MAIN OFFICE.
There are only a limited number of spots so it is first come, first serve. Students with a parking permit can start
parking on Wednesday, June 1st. You cannot park on any Wootton HS property until you have actually received your
permit, therefore, if you are not here on Thursday to pick up your permit, do not drive to school on Wednesday, June 1st
expecting to park. You can only pick up your permit on May 26th after school until 3:15 p.m. or after May 27th in the Main
Office during your lunch period or after 2:30 p.m. Permits will NOT be given out on May 31st due to graduation, no
exceptions.
A parking permit will be issued based upon the criteria listed below:
• Student must have a valid driver’s license. Do not apply if you have a learners permit.
• Student must provide a copy of current proof of automobile insurance. MUST cover through June 20th.
• All students must have a minimum 3rd quarter GPA of 2.0 with no more than 1 failing grade.
• Students may not have an obligation to the Financial Office.
• Students must have already completed all 75 hours required for Graduation via Student Service Learning.
• Handicapped students (must have physician’s statement and handicapped sticker from the MVA).
• Students must not have any attendance issues for this current school year.
PARKING IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN LOWER STUDENT LOT.
Hanging, temporary, color coded permits will be issued and must be attached to the rearview mirror. Students are
randomly assigned a numbered parking space. Security personnel will monitor the parking area daily and towing will be
enforced for illegally parked vehicles. Students with any parking concerns should contact a member of security upon
arriving at school for resolution of the concern.

Please note: this is NOT the application for the fall semester next year. You will be
notified when that form is available for submission. Parking this spring does NOT
guarantee parking for the fall semester. You will be required to fill out a different
application for the fall.
PARKING REGULATIONS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This is standard parking information. Not all sections will be applicable for this parking session.
•
Parking eligibility is determined by the enrollment in Wootton sponsored programs that have the greatest need for
student transportation to and from offsite locations. These programs do not offer school transportation, therefore
parking permits are provided.
•
Priority is given to seniors enrolled in school sponsored out-of-school programs such as the Business Internships,
Science Internships, Child Development Internships, and Psychology Internships. Sports teams (and a few club
groups-Senior planning, SGA, etc.) are given one space each. Check with your program sponsor if you are
willing to provide a carpool, or carpool with other students. College Institute, after-school jobs and internships, as
well as Thomas Edison HS programs, and regular medical appointments are not given a priority status. The school
system provides transportation for Edison programs.
•
Acceptable proof of insurance would be an insurance card or insurance declaration page listing the vehicle(s) and
current policy period with expiration date.
•
Parking spaces are assigned randomly using www.randomnumbers.com .
•
Students should park in their assigned space WITH their parking permit hanging from that car’s rear view mirror.
If you have lost your permit, you can purchase a replacement permit for a nominal fee.
•
With the exception of off-campus interns, you may not leave the schools grounds during the school day for any
reason. If you are found in violation of this rule, or other driving infractions, then your permit will be revoked.
•
If you find another vehicle in your assigned space, park your vehicle in one of the Visitor Parking spaces in the
lower lot. You must inform Security as soon as you get to school that you needed to park in another
location because someone is parked in you assigned space.
•
If you need to add or change the vehicle(s) listed on your application, you will need to give the new vehicle
information to Mr. Mamana and the security office. This information must include: vehicle make, model and
color, tag number (no temporary tags allowed) and proof of insurance.
•
Any misrepresentation or falsification of records will result in the loss of driving privileges and parking permit.
•
Reckless driving, excessive speed or operating a vehicle in an unsafe manner is prohibited. This applies to
Wootton High School property and Wootton Parkway in the vicinity of the school. Speed on Wootton property is
not to exceed 10 mph. Violations of any of the aforementioned will result in the loss of parking privileges.
•
The school is not responsible for the vehicle or its contents.
•
Failure to obey the direction of school staff while in or operating a vehicle will result in the loss of driving
privileges and parking permit.
•
Permits are not transferable and shall not be sold or given to other students. Permits will be suspended or
revoked if found to have been given to someone else to use.
