Summer School 2015
7th and 8th Grades
For the 2014-2015 school year, Mountain Brook Junior High will operate a summer Grade Recovery Program
for current 7th and 8th grade students. Students failing to master the required standards in core academic classes
have the opportunity to attend our summer school to recover that grade. A self-paced online format, along with
live instruction and support, will be utilized. When students complete the program and demonstrate mastery in
the assigned area, they will be awarded grade recovery. Because the program is self-paced, some students may
finish before the end of a term, while others may need to attend more than one term.

Summer School Registration Dates:
Please return all registration forms, along with payment, to the guidance office by May 27, 2015.
Dates of Summer School Term:
Session 1 - June 1-19, 2015
Session 2 – June 22 – July 10, 2015
Daily Schedule:
7:25 a.m. – Warning Bell
7:30 a.m. – Tardy Bell
9:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. First Break
11:00 a.m. – 11:10 a.m. – Second Break
12:30 p.m. – End of School Day

**A $25.00 processing fee will be charged for any cancellations after May 27, 2014. No refunds are
given once the sessions begin.
Program Attendance and Completion
Students should be in attendance each day. More than two absences may result in loss of credit. Four
tardies will be considered as one absence.
All rules and regulations listed in the student handbook apply to summer school. Students failing to
adhere to behavior guidelines may be dismissed from the summer school program.
The MBJH grading scale applies to summer school. Grade Recovery grades cannot exceed a 70 and will
be will be listed in the summer school term on the transcript.
Please note, students who fail to master standards by July 10 will NOT receive a grade for the grade
recovery program.
