Course Overview
PAP Precalculus is a course that emphases on linear and non-linear functional concepts. Students will learn the
relationship between text, equations, graphs and tables through mathematical modeling. Students are also motivated to
discuss mathematical functions. They will strengthen their conceptual foundations and understand mathematical
relevance in everyday life. The class will include review of the concepts learned in Algebra II, andGeometry. Students
who master PAP Precalculus will gain experience with algebraic solutions of problems in various content areas, including
the logarithmic, exponential, polynomial , rational and trigonometric functions etc. In additon, there is discuission over
couting precipal and probability.
General Expectations
Arrive promptly, be prepared, participate actively and exhibit respect. Follow HISD/Reagan HS rules and policies.
Complete assignments, tests, etc. in a timely fashion. Always do your best!
Required Materials
Pencils, Erasers, Notebook paper, Textbook
TI83 or 84 graphing calculators will be provided in class but it would be helpful to have your own calculator.
One ream of copy paper (optional), you will receive a 2 free homework pass if you bring to class.
It is suggested that you have a designated Statistics folder or section in a three-ring binder in which to keep your
handouts and homework paper organized.
Course Outline
The course content includes algebraic solutions from various problems , the logarithmic, exponential, polynomial ,
rational and trigonometric functions etc. In additon, couting precipal and probability.
Grading
Unit tests or Projects: 35%,
Quizzes: 25%,
Classwork: 25%,
Homework:15%.
A:(90 or above)

Parents and students may use PS Connect on the HISD
website to track grades on Gradespeed. Students may
retake a unit test under circumstances. Feel free to email
me if you have concerns or questions.
Make-up Work
Being absent from class is not a good thing. YOU are responsible to take care of what you have missed. If you have
been absent you must get your classwork from the blue bin in the back of the room. This work should be turned in
within 3 days of returning to school. If you missed a test because of an excused absence, you must make up the missed
test within 5 class days. All make-up tests will be taken before or after school or during the lunch period. Let me know
when you plan to make up a test.
