Tasks for Juniors to Complete Before Senior Year
Important dates
Maryland College Night: Tue., September 29 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium
PSAT:
October 14th during the school day (You may use the online school payment system for registration on
the bottom left of the Churchill home page.)
Financial Aid Night:
Wed., December 2nd at 7:00 pm in Rm 126. This is a great heads up for what’s needed senior year
Junior Parent Night:
Thur., December 3rd at 7:00 pm in the auditorium
MCPS College Fair:
Field Trip!! April 19 or 20 (Date to be confirmed by MCPS)
Evening fair for parents & students April 19th at 6:00 pm at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds

Things to do
 Mock SAT & ACT
Full length SAT & ACT or take a combo test in one four hour period.
Registration opens two weeks in advance of the test date and instructions are on the CHS homepage.
Mock tests can help determine which test is best for his/her style.
 Use the PSAT from this year to compare performance to the Explore from 9th grade or a mock ACT
 Take or retake the SAT I plus writing or ACT plus writing in the spring of junior year
SAT II exams should be taken if one of the colleges you are applying to requires them for admission. Take them as
close to the completion of the CHS course as possible.
 College visits are encouraged! It is best to visit while students are on campus, ask questions and take notes.
 Meet college representative in the CHS career center this fall
The visits can be found on the college/career center calendar on the CHS homepage & sign up in the career center.
 Create an activity sheet/resume for grades 9-11 now and add grade 12 as your plans become final
 Perform well in your courses this year & pay attention to course selection for senior year. You are expected to maintain
your previous academic rigor and achievement throughout senior year.
