Cisco ME 2600X series ethernet access switches. Use this document in conjunction with the previous Release

These release notes also include the limitations, restrictions, and caveats that apply to these releases.
You can verify that these release notes apply to your switch as follows:
• If you are installing a new switch, see the Cisco IOS release label on the rear panel of your switch.
• If your switch is on, use the show version privileged EXEC command. See the Determining the Software
Version section.

There are no new hardware features in this release.
New Software Features in Release 15.4(2)S
Point-to-point protocol over Ethernet Intermediate Agent
Point-to-point protocol over Ethernet Intermediate Agent (PPPoE IA) is placed between a subscriber and
Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS).
PPPoE IA helps the service provider BRAS to distinguish between end hosts connected over Ethernet and an
access device.

Multicast VLAN Registration Global
Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) is now available in the global mode.

Determining the Software Version
To determine the version of Cisco IOS software that is running on your Cisco router, log in to the router and
enter the show version EXEC command:

Use Cisco Feature Navigator to find information about platform support and software image support. Cisco
Feature Navigator enables you to determine which Cisco IOS and Catalyst OS software images support a
specific software release, feature set, or platform. To access Cisco Feature Navigator, go to http://
www.cisco.com/go/cfn. An account on Cisco.com is not required.

Downloading The Software Image File
To download the software image file for your device, complete these steps:

Using the Bug Search Tool
This chapter describes how you can use the bug search tool to search for bugs in a Cisco IOS release.
Bug Severity Levels
The system grades known problems (bugs) according to severity level. These release notes contain descriptions
of the following bug levels:

Access Bug Search

Access Bug Search
You can search for problems by using the Cisco Bug Search tool.
To access Bug Search, you need the following items:
• Internet connection
• Web browser
• Cisco.com user ID and password
Using Bug Search Tool
This section explains how to use the Bug ToolKit to search for a specific bug.
SUMMARY STEPS
1. Go to https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/
2. You are prompted to log into Cisco.com. Log in with your Cisco.com user ID and password. After successful
login, the Bug Search Tool page opens.
3. To search for a specific bug, enter the bug ID in the Search for field and press Enter.

Caveat List for Cisco IOS Release 15.4(2)S
This chapter describes the open severity 1 and 2 caveats, and select severity 3 caveats:
The "Open Caveats" sections list open caveats that apply to the current release and may apply to previous
releases. A caveat that is open for an earlier release and is still unresolved, applies to all future releases until
it is resolved.
The bug IDs are sorted alphanumerically.
